Patent number: 7228583Abstract: An improved housing for an electric toothbrush is disclosed. The improved housing provides two symmetrically positioned gripping members which assist the user in grasping the toothbrush particularly during brushing. Each of the gripping members includes a recessed gripping region having particular dimensional characteristics. The two gripping members are symmetrically arranged on the rearward sides of the toothbrush so that the brush may be used by both left-handed and right-handed individuals. A third gripping member may also be provided along the housing of the toothbrush.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2003Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Church & Dwight Co., Inc.Inventors: John Geoffrey Chan, John Roy Whitney, Patrick William Brown

Patent number: 7008976Abstract: The present invention relates to a denture adhesive composition comprising mixed salts of an alkyl vinyl ether-maleic acid or anhydride copolymer and/or terpolymer with isobutylene wherein the mixed salt contains a cationic salt function comprising at least about 1% strontium cations, from about 1% to about 40% of zinc cations, from 0% to about 2.5% of a cation selected from the group consisting of iron, boron, aluminum, vanadium, chromium, manganese, nickel, copper, yttrium, titanium, and mixtures thereof; from about 36% to about 60% free acid component; and from 0% to about 65% of a cation selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium, and mixtures thereof. In addition, the present invention relates to denture adhesive compositions comprising the above composition and at least one non-adhesive self-supporting layer.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2002Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Jayanth Rajaiah, Carole Ann Schumacher, John Roy Whitney, Kimberly Ann Gilday-Weber, Edward Dewey Smith, III

Patent number: 6617374Abstract: The present invention relates to a denture adhesive composition comprising mixed salts of an alkyl vinyl ether-maleic acid or anhydride copolymer and/or terpolymer with isobutylene wherein the mixed salt contains a cationic salt function comprising at least about 22.5% calcium cations, from about 15% to about 25% of zinc cations, of the total initial carboxyl groups reacted, the mixed salt containing from about 36% to about 50% free acid component. In addition the present invention relates to denture adhesive compositions comprising the above composition and at least one non-adhesive self-supporting layer. The present invention further relates to a method of increasing the adhesion of dentures to the oral cavity by applying the above compositions to dentures, directly to the oral cavity, palate or ridge of the oral cavity, or applying it to both, and thereafter securing the denture to the ridge or palate of the oral cavity.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1999Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Jayanth Rajaiah, Carole Ann Schumacher, John Roy Whitney, Kimberly Ann Gilday-Weber, Robert Hargitt Culbertson
