  • Publication number: 20240080965
Abstract: A method for producing a neutrons includes triggering a raising or a lowering of a temperature of a pyroelectric crystal of less than about 40° C. to produce a voltage of negative polarity of at least ?100 keV on a surface of a deuterated or tritiated target coupled thereto. A deuterium ion source is pulsed to produce a deuterium ion beam. The accelerating of the deuterium ion beam is achieved by accelerating voltage of the pyroelectric crystal toward the deuterated or tritiated target to produce neutrons. Furthermore, the pyroelectric crystal, the deuterated or tritiated target, and the deuterium ion source are coupled to a common support. The method also includes throwing the common support housing the pyroelectric crystal, the deuterated or tritiated target, and the deuterium ion source near an unknown threat for identification thereof.

  • Publication number: 20200254680
Abstract: An activatable wrap material includes a film material a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The wrap material includes a plurality of protrusions extending outward from the first side of the wrap material and oriented in a pattern across the first side of the wrap material and a plurality of planar portions defined within the first side of the wrap material and throughout the plurality of protrusions. The wrap material exhibits an average peel adhesion force, when activated against a surface, between about 1.50 g/in to about 3.25 g/in. The wrap material further exhibits an average roll unwind force, when wound on a roll, between about 1.50 g/in to about 5.0 g/in. The wrap material also exhibits an average blocking force, when contacting itself, between about 0.4 g/in2 to about 1.30 g/in2.

  • Patent number: 8444320
Abstract: A tie bag for storing refuse or garbage includes an undulating top edge defining an opening to the bag. The top edge may include two flaps and two valleys. In one embodiment, the valley may include a flat portion at the bottom of the valley. The flaps may be tied together to at least partially close the bag. The bag further may include a first seam that intersects the flat portion of the valley. The flat portion reduces the possibility of tearing the seam. In another embodiment, the valley may include a slit. In an additional embodiment, the valley may include two secondary valleys and a center valley. In another embodiment, the seam may intersect the top edge at a point other than the lowest point in the valley.

  • Patent number: 7946765
Abstract: A retaining element for use with elastic sheet material is disclosed. In one form, the sheet material can be provided as a bag (100) having first and second sidewalls (102,104). The retaining element can be in the form of an elastic strip attached to one of the sidewalls. The retaining strip (120) can comprise a heat-unstable activatable material such that it can be applied to the bag in a deadened condition wherein the strip is set and subsequently heated to transition to an activated condition wherein the retaining element is elasticized to provide an elasticized article which can have a shirred appearance. The retaining element can have various configurations and can be activated by various methods.

  • Patent number: 7077796
Abstract: Provided is a plastic bag including a live elastic strip that, in the elastic strip's normal condition, contracts thereby constricting an opening of the bag to assist in retaining the bag to an object. The elastic strip includes a first region that is continuously attached to a sidewall of the bag between a first side edge and a second side edge of the bag and a second region that remains unattached to the sidewall. The attached region does not contract but instead forces the portion of the sidewall to which it is attached to pucker into a serpentine path. The unattached region does contract causing the portion of the sidewall to which it is adjacent to bunch together. Also provided is a method for manufacturing a plastic bag that involves stretching a live elastic tape and continuously attaching a region of the stretched tape to a web of plastic material.
