Publication number: 20240045972Abstract: A method for automatically detecting and mitigating risks related to cybersecurity in a Building Management System (BMS) includes evaluating settings of a user account of the BMS; identifying a security risk associated with the settings of the user account; evaluating settings of a network device of the BMS; identifying another security risk associated with the settings of the network device, presenting a user interface, wherein the user interface allows a user to view a policy recommendation associated with either security risk; and implementing the change in the settings of the user account or a change in the settings of the network device based at least in part on an input from the user via the user interface or an automated response to the policy recommendation. The method allows for administrators to easily view and change settings of user accounts and network devices to improve the cybersecurity of the BMS.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2023Publication date: February 8, 2024Applicant: Johnson Controls Tyco IP Holdings LLPInventors: Carol Lomonaco, John S. Patent number: 9918180Abstract: Systems and methods for using occupant location in a building management system are provided. A plurality of wireless emitters are provided at various locations in a building. Each of the wireless emitters broadcasts a different emitter identifier. Mobile devices in the building run an application which causes the mobile devices to detect and report, to the building management system, an emitter identifier associated with a nearby wireless emitter. The building management system uses the reported emitter identifier to determine a building zone in which the mobile device is located. The building management system provides information to the mobile device based on the location of the mobile device in the building. In some embodiments, the information includes a user interface for monitoring and/or controlling the building zone in which the mobile device is located.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2014Date of Patent: March 13, 2018Assignee: Johnson Controls Technology CompanyInventors: Joseph R. Ribbich, John S. Jilek, Dana S. Petersen, Ryan J. Bykowski
