Patent number: 10244375Abstract: Methods and systems for associating or pairing a mobile device with a local output device via a central or mobile connect server system are provided. Pairing is performed by initiating a pairing request from an output device that is passed to the mobile connect server for processing. The mobile connect server responds to the request with a pairing code that is displayed by the output device. A user of the mobile device then enters the displayed pairing code in the mobile device. The mobile device transmits the entered pairing code to the mobile connect server and, in response to a match, the mobile device is paired to the output device. Pairing can enable various functions, including an ability to apply stored user preference data to control programming or other information displayed by the output device in response to commands entered in the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2017Date of Patent: March 26, 2019Assignee: SONIFI SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Derin M. Zerr, John S. Prince, III, James L. Fenno, John B. Baker

Publication number: 20020133558Abstract: A hotel entertainment system adaptable to provide entertainment services to a large or small lodging facility is provided. The system comprises a master host and several slave subsystems, which communicate via a network backbone. The slave subsystems provide entertainment services to guest rooms, and the master host coordinates communications between the slave subsystems and other components of the hotel entertainment system. The master host can connect to a number of slave subsystems with the slave subsystems providing services to a subset of the guest rooms in a lodging facility, allowing the system to be scaled to provide entertainment services to lodging facilities of varying sizes. The master host contains a room map and a property management system daemon. The room map allows the master host to determine which guest rooms are by a particular slave subsystem, allowing accurate tracking of which guest room receives services.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2001Publication date: September 19, 2002Inventors: James L. Patent number: 4589022Abstract: A video brightness control system for high performance CRT displays including a buffer amplifier for receiving high speed video information and applying it to a gain control variable resistor serving as a contrast control. An ambient light sensor drives a nonlinear amplifier to provide an ambient light signal which is in proportion to the logarithm of the ambient light level over a wide range. A manual brightness control potentiometer is adjustable to provide a constant brightness signal. The video information signal, the ambient light signal, and the manual brightness control signal are added together by a summing device, with the resultant signal approximating a logarithmic characteristic. The output of the summing device is applied to a gamma correction amplifier which drives a video driver amplifier, the video amplifier, in turn, drives the CRT.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1983Date of Patent: May 13, 1986Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: John S.
