  • Publication number: 20180280794
Abstract: A computer implemented method of presenting pre-show content to movie theater audiences includes receiving requests from an exhibitor, each request identifying a feature presentation, a feature presentation start time, and the length of a pre-show session preceding the feature presentation. At least one multiplayer game for each pre-show session is selected automatically based on at least one of an audience maturity rating of the feature presentation, a genre of the feature presentation, and the availability of other players attending at least one other feature presentation hosted by the same exhibitor at the same or a different location, and/or a different exhibitor at a different location. • Patent number: 9101836
Abstract: A computer implemented method of presenting pre-show content to movie theater audiences at a plurality of locations includes receiving at least one request from an exhibitor of feature content, each request identifying a feature presentation, a feature presentation start time, and information defining the time reserved for seating the audience prior to the feature presentation. At least one multiplayer game for each pre-show session is selected and projected to the theater screen before the feature presentation. Multiple roles are defined for each game, including active competitor roles, administrator roles, and spectator roles. Participation requires operation of a mobile terminal to which a client application has been installed. Eligibility is based on one or more quantitative criteria such as the availability of roles for assignment and one or more qualitative criteria such as qualifying purchases made using a mobile client, social messaging activity, and the like.

  • Patent number: 9100629
Abstract: Methods and systems for presenting interactive content, to members of an audience having visible access to a common display screen, as part of a pre-show that precedes presentation of featured display content. Social network messages are received at a server. Each of the messages originates at, and is received from, one of a plurality of mobile devices executing a client application. The server forwards at least some of the received messages to a projector, which in turn projects the messages to the display screen as posts within a social network “page”. Concurrently, the received messages are transmitted over a wireless local area network to mobile terminals executing the client application. The client application initiates display of the messages within a corresponding social network page. A resource identifier (e.g. HTML link) within a message enables viewing of supplemental content at the discretion and initiative of each individual mobile terminal user.
