  • Patent number: 11890734
Abstract: A fastener driving tool that includes a lift mechanism for moving the driver from a driven position to a ready position. In one embodiment, the lift mechanism is mounted to a movable pivot arm, and the pivot arm is slightly rotated to allow the driver to drive a fastener; when the driver is to be lifted in a return stroke, the lifter subassembly is moved back into engagement with the driver, and multiple lifter pins contact protrusions in the driver to lift the driver from the driven position to the ready position. In another embodiment, the pivotable lifter floats along the driver, and “releases” from contact only to prevent a jam or otherwise undesirable operating condition involving the driver; otherwise, the lifter remains nested in the tool's guide body during all operating states. A solenoid-operated latch also is provided to prevent the driver from moving downward (for driving a fastener).

  • Patent number: 9993913
Abstract: A clenching adapter for use with automatic nailers tools is provided, which mounts to a nailer tool, and which extends behind a two-layer workpiece and curls the tip of a driven nail on the opposite side of the multiple-layer workpiece. The adapter includes a movable extension link that pivots on a proximal end, due to the action of an air cylinder actuator, and that pivoting motion causes an anvil mounted on its distal end to grasp the opposite (bottom) side of the workpiece, while also positioning the anvil to a location where it intercepts the nail that will be fired through the workpiece by the nailer tool. The anvil mechanism rotates from a “relaxed” position that fits within a gap in the boards of a workpiece, to an actuated “ready” position that receives and curls the nail, for clenching a multi-substrate workpiece. The actuations are automatically sequenced, in one embodiment.

  • Patent number: 6869261
Abstract: A transportation and installation assist device (16) for at least one precast concrete tilt panel. The panel(s) (18) are generally rectangular and have a first shorter end (44) with at least one lifting anchor therein, a second opposed shorter end (48) and a longitudinal axis (50) therebetween. The device (16) includes at least one frame (20) adapted to releasably engage an associated one of the panel(s) (18) substantially adjacent the second end (48) and support the panel (18) in a loading/transport orientation with the face of the associated panel (18) substantially vertical and the axis(es) (50) substantially horizontal. The frame (20) is also adapted for pivotal mounting to a table bed (14) of a truck (10) or trailer (12). The frame (20) and associated panel (18) pivot together when the first panel end (44) is lifted above the second panel end (48) until the associated panel (18) is in a releasing orientation with the face of the panel (18) substantially vertical and the axis (50) substantially vertical.

  • Patent number: 6669072
Abstract: Disclosed and taught is a novel drive mechanism for a cyclic operating tool employing an energized flywheel to provide the necessary energy to perform a working cycle. The drive mechanism disclosed is particularly useful in hand tool applications such as a hand held nailing machine. The flywheel may be energized by a corded or battery powered motor. The herein disclosed mechanism teaches a novel pair of ball ramp cam plates wherein a first pair of ball ramps cause an initial engagement of a clutch with the energized flywheel whereupon rotation of the clutch causes activation of a second pair of ball ramps which affect compression of a spring which acts to increase the pressure applied to the clutch thereby assuring a slip free engagement between the clutch and he flywheel throughout the working cycle of the drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5697541
Abstract: A canister-type magazine for the class of fastener driving tool which uses a coil of tandemly arranged fasteners. The magazine comprises a substantially cylindrical body having a top, a bottom and a side wall, and is made up of a fixed body part and a movable body part. The fixed body part has a forward end attached to the tool fastener feed mechanism and a rearward end attached to the tool handle. The fixed body part comprises the top and a segment of the side wall of the magazine. The movable body part has forward and rearward ends and comprises the bottom, the fastener coil support surface, and the remainder of the side wall of the magazine. The movable body part is pivotally affixed at its rearward end to a hinge member. The hinge member, in turn, is adjustably mounted in a hinge member support constituting a portion of the rearward end of the fixed body part.
