Patent number: 5518144Abstract: A dispenser package including a stack of flexible sheets adhered together by layers of pressure sensitive adhesive with first and second ends of successive sheets in the stack adjacent; and an enclosure in which the stack of sheets is positioned having top wall portions with spaced opposed surfaces that define a wide slot. The first end portion of the uppermost sheet on the stack projects through the slot and rests against the adjacent first abutment surface.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1994Date of Patent: May 21, 1996Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Bruce E. Patent number: 4929029Abstract: A brush including a laminate having a handle end portion adapted for manual engagement, and an opposite head end portion; and a plurality of rows of bristles having end portions adhered between adjacent plies in the head end portion of the laminate and projecting outwardly. The brush is formed from pieces of oriented polymeric film, portions of which are adhered to individual plies to be incorporated in the laminate and have portions projecting from the plies separated into bristles before the plies are laminated to form the brush. Lamination is done by driving moisture out of pasteboard layers coated with dried water activatable adhesive by exposure to radio frequency energy which activates the adhesive to form the laminate.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1989Date of Patent: May 29, 1990Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Edward W. Deziel, John T. Rueb, Mark D. Sorlien, Jack A. Dahlstrom, David W. Erismann

Patent number: 4835217Abstract: Pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, sheet material coated therewith, and a kit for installing insulation around windows comprising the coated sheet material. The adhesive composition consists essentially of a first component consisting essentially of a tackified, emulsifiable adhesive and a second component consisting essentially of at least one terminally unsaturated vinyl monomer, at least one vinyl-unsaturated, homopolymerizable, emulsifier monomer, and, optionally a small amount of an external emulsifier. The adhesive provides high tack and excellent adhesion at both low temperatures and high temperatures, thus rendering it suitable for outdoor use in areas that encounter extremes of weather.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1987Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Jens L. Jorgensen, Thomas E. Haskett, John T. Rueb

Patent number: 4630765Abstract: A tape dispenser for pressure sensitive adhesive coated tape having a stretchable backing. The dispenser includes a housing comprising a base portion having a cavity in which a roll of the tape is mounted, and a slotted land area spaced from the hub against which tape from said roll may be releasably adhered; and a cover portion on the base portion for movement from an open position with teeth on the cover spaced from the slot toward a closed position so that the teeth enter the slot and cut tape on the land area. The cover includes walls defining a socket adapted to receive a portion of a user's thumb so that the user may grasp the dispenser in one hand with his fingers around the base portion and his thumb in the socket and with one hand alone move the cover and base portions between their open and closed positions leaving his other hand free to pull tape from the dispenser.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1985Date of Patent: December 23, 1986Assignee: Minnesota Minning and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Bruce E. Patent number: 4249349Abstract: A sanding block having a handle portion from which projects an elongate support portion to which can be adhered a strip of pressure-sensitive adhesive-coated finishing material. The support portion has various shaped surface portions for supporting the finishing material, including a planar surface portion, an arcuate surface portion of decreasing radius extending longitudinally of the support portion away from the handle portion, and an edge surface portion provided by planar surface portions intersecting at an acute included angle so that the finishing material may be supported in a desired shape that affords pressing and rubbing it against a complementary surface on a workpiece by manual manipulation of the sanding block.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1978Date of Patent: February 10, 1981Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventor: John T.
