Patent number: 8011535Abstract: A process for closing a fill passageway into a container with a closure unit comprising a pour spout and a closure cap. The pour spout is mounted to a neck finish associated with a container in an anchored position on the neck finish without blocking later removal of the closure cap from the pour spout by a consumer to expose the fluid-discharge outlet of the pour spout to permit discharge of fluid material from the interior region of the container through the exposed fluid-discharge outlet while the pour spout remains in the stationary anchored position on the neck finish.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2010Date of Patent: September 6, 2011Assignee: Berry Plastics CorporationInventors: John Tauber, Duane Sawyer

Publication number: 20070250341Abstract: A method is disclosed whereby consumers enrolled in subscribing prescription benefit plans can easily obtain information over the Internet regarding costs and availability of their prescription medications at local and mail-order participating pharmacies of their choice, based on the prescription benefit plans of which they are members. Data on medication dosages, quantities and net costs at a plurality of pharmacies are compiled by the method and presented on-line so that each member of a plan can select the combination of cost and convenience for prescription fulfillment that he or she prefers. The method then allows the user to select prescription fulfillment directly from the selected pharmacy on-line. Other information,.such as general medical, medication and health information can also be made available. Patients, pharmacies, PBMs and plan payers all benefit.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2006Publication date: October 25, 2007Inventors: Frederick Howe, Dale Brown, John Tauber

Patent number: 6896160Abstract: A disc top dispensing closure which includes a body having an opening and an actuator having a channel mounted to the closure body. The actuator is pivotable between an open position, wherein the channel and the opening of the body form a continuous fluid path, and a closed position, wherein the channel and the opening of the body do not form a continuous fluid path. The actuator is also rotatable between a locked position, wherein the actuator is not movable between the open and the closed position, and an unlocked position, wherein the actuator is movable between the open and the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2002Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: Poly-Seal CorporationInventors: Brett Kaufman, John Tauber, Frank Cassidy

Publication number: 20040262251Abstract: A safety closure having an outer cap and an inner cap being rotatably received by the outer cap is disclosed. The outer cap includes a top wall having a plurality of lugs formed thereon. The inner cap includes a top wall and a cylindrical skirt depending therefrom. The inner cap includes a plurality of lug receiving recesses formed at an intersection of the top wall and cylindrical skirt. The recesses have at least one vertical wall and at least one inclined wall. The lugs of the outer cap engage the vertical walls, and are received by the recesses, only when the outer cap is turned in a closure application direction, causing the closure to be applied to a container. The inclined walls of the recesses act on the lugs to prevent the lugs from being received in the recesses until a downward force is applied to the outer cap.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2004Publication date: December 30, 2004Inventor: John Tauber

Patent number: 6065648Abstract: A child resistant dispenser including an outer shell and an inner shell which are fixedly attached to and non-removable from a container. The outer shell includes an orifice in fluid connection with the container, and the inner shell includes a seal peg for obstructing the orifice when the dispenser is in the closed position. The dispenser includes a plurality of lugs which fit within and are movable along a plurality of sloped races. The races may include two or more portions having differing slopes. The inner and outer shells include a plurality of latches which are engageable and disengageable with each other. An inwardly directed force on at least one pressure point allows for disengagement of the latches and permits rotation of the outer shell, allowing the outer shell to move axially relative to the inner shell, thereby unplugging the orifice. Rotation in the opposite direction will move the outer shell axially downward, thereby replugging the orifice.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1999Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Poly-Seal CorporationInventor: John Tauber

Patent number: 5706962Abstract: A child resistant safety closure including a body portion defining a chamber, a hollow neck extending from said body portion and having an outside surface, and a container screw thread formed on said outside surface of said neck and extending circumferentially around an axis. A ring encircles said neck of said container and has an outer ring surface and an inner ring surface. A cap having an inner cap surface and a cap screw thread formed on said cap inner surface engages said container screw thread when said cap is twisted onto said container. A pair of interface surfaces located between said inner ring surface and said outside surface of said neck, and between said inner cap surface and said outer ring surface supports a safety mechanism that includes a lug and a recess, which slides over said lug, and two sets of ratchets, which engage each other more closely as said recess slides over said lug, but which slide over each other when said recess is prohibited from rotating.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1996Date of Patent: January 13, 1998Assignee: Poly-Seal CorporationInventor: John Tauber
