Patent number: 6395445Abstract: A process for forming toner particles includes aggregating the toner particles by adding an aggregating agent to a latex emulsion of resin having a colorant mixed therein, the adding being done under adding conditions of agitation and a temperature above a glass transition temperature of the resin, wherein the adding of the aggregating agent comprises first introducing at least about 40% by weight of a total amount of aggregating agent to be added at a rapid introduction rate and subsequently adding a remaining portion of the aggregating agent at a continuous addition rate slower than the rapid introduction rate. The particles are subsequently cooled to a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the resin when particles have been grown to the desired size.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2001Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Alan John Toth, Milan Maric, Armin R. Patent number: 6100841Abstract: A compact RF monopulse receiver circuit having a relatively low noise figure which is particularly useful for operation in the millimeter wave frequency range is described. The compact monopulse receiver finds use in small projectile and small missile applications. Also, a combination of transmit signal protection circuitry and receiver circuit architecture allows the RF monopulse receiver circuit to operate in a missile or other projectile which utilizes high RF power transmit signals. The RF monopulse receiver circuit can directly provide a radiation pattern for target detection and tracking or alternatively, the RF monopulse receiver circuit can function as a monopulse feed circuit which can be used, for example, in a quasi-optically fed reflector antenna.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1998Date of Patent: August 8, 2000Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: John Toth, Michael J. Patent number: 5837839Abstract: We have cloned and expressed the cDNA for human liver mevalonate pyrophosphate decarboxylase, an enzyme of the cholesterol synthesis pathway. This cDNA encodes a 400 amino acid protein (43 kDa) which resembles the coding sequence of an unidentified and incomplete open reading frame adjacent to the COQ2 gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We also found an expression sequence tag clone made from human infant brain cDNA to be almost identical to our cDNA sequence.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1996Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: Novartis Finance CorporationInventors: Matthew John Toth, Leslie Robin Huwyler

Patent number: 5520445Abstract: A wheel cover retention system (10) for use with motor vehicle wheels includes a plurality of lug nuts (16) and a wheel cover (12). Each lug nut (16) has a decorative outer surface (42) with a flange (36) and a driving head which includes wrenching flats (42). The driving head sustains installation torque required to fix the wheel (14) to a vehicle. An intermediate body portion (40) of the lug nut (16) is smaller in diameter than the flange (36) is disposed between the flange and an end of the lug nut. The wheel cover has a plurality of apertures (28) accommodating passage therethrough of the body portion of the lug nuts (16).Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1994Date of Patent: May 28, 1996Assignee: Industrial & Automotive Fasteners, Inc.Inventor: John A. Patent number: 5370348Abstract: An oarlock lantern holder device for use in mounting a lantern on a boat gunwale includes an elongated arm and a horizontal split-ring clamp for clamping and holding a lantern and connected to the arm. A vertical shaft portion of the arm is mountable to an oarlock of the boat gunwale for slidably and pivotably moving the arm relative to the oarlock and thereby mounting the arm, split-ring clamp and the lantern therewith for undergoing swinging movement between inboard and outboard positions relative to the boat gunwale.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Inventor: John A. Patent number: 5302069Abstract: A capped wheel nut formed of a cap and a nut insert which, when engaged, rotate together such as for removably engaging a wheel to a threaded stud of a hub of a vehicle. The capped wheel nut is rotated by a standard tool which applies a rotational force to the cap. Should the cap become disengaged from the nut insert, then the nut insert may be rotated by a standard tool which applies a rotational force to the nut insert in the absence of the cap.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1992Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Assignee: Key Manufacturing Group, Inc.Inventors: John A. Toth, Glenn A. Snowberger, Richard W. Guillod, John M. Liston

Patent number: 4826050Abstract: In spraying liquid herbicides and insecticides, a predetermined dose is delivered in each operation of a dosing apparatus. The dosing apparatus comprises a piston-and-cylinder combination supported on a hangle. The piston is biased in one direction by a spring or by pressurized propellant, and movement of the piston in this one direction causes the liquid to flow into the cylinder through a check valve. Actuation of a trigger-operated valve releases pressurized propellant into the cylinder on the opposite side of the piston (or alternatively into an auxiliary cylinder) causing movement of the piston and discharge of the liquid through a second check valve and then through a spray nozzle. The dosing apparatus includes a portable backpack structure molded of a plastics material, and is especially suited for portable operation in remote locations. The backpack is formed with a reservoir for reagent and a compartment for removably holding a pressurized propellant container.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1986Date of Patent: May 2, 1989Inventors: Allan P. Murphy, John Toth
