  • Patent number: 10271028
Abstract: A device, system and method for subliminally projecting structured light patterns is provided. A computing device alters at least a portion of a plurality of content bitplanes to subtract a structured light bitplane therefrom, such that pixels of the structured light bitplane and the plurality of content bitplanes, when altered, sum to a same respective brightness as corresponding pixels of the plurality of content bitplanes before alteration. A a projector projects the structured light bitplane and the plurality of content bitplanes having the structured light bitplane subtracted therefrom. A camera captures images of the structured light bitplane as projected by the projector, for example to calibrate the projector.

  • Publication number: 20150271481
Abstract: A system for forming stereoscopic images is provided, comprising: a first set of materials configured to emit light comprising a first set of primary colours when excited; a second set of materials configured to emit further light comprising a second set of primary colours when excited, the first and second sets of primary colours corresponding to one another, respective wavelengths of a given primary colour in each of the sets different from one another; one or more light sources configured to irradiate the sets of materials with an excitation wavelength so that both sets of primary colours are emitted; and, a light modulator positioned for irradiation by both sets of primary colours, the light modulator configured to form a first image from the first set of primary colours and a second image from the second set of primary colours.

  • Patent number: 9049369
Abstract: Apparatus, systems and methods are provided for projecting images onto predefined portions of objects in a projection area. The system includes a computing device, a projector and a camera. The computing device stores a digital model of an object, and an image containing a reference to the digital model. The projector, or another light source, projects structured light onto the projection area, and the camera simultaneously captures an image of the projection area. The computing device receives the captured image, determines a position and orientation of the object by comparing the digital model to the captured image, and then generates a canvas image including a version of the image which has been transformed to match the determined position and orientation of the object. The projector projects the canvas image onto the projection area. The transformed image is thereby projected onto a predefined portion of the object.

  • Patent number: 9047514
Abstract: Apparatus, systems and methods are provided for illuminating objects in a projection area. The system includes a computing device, a projector and a camera. The computing device stores a digital model of an object, and illumination data having lighting parameters and a reference to the digital model. The projector, or another light source, projects structured light onto the projection area, and the camera simultaneously captures an image of the projection area. The computing device receives the captured image, determines a position and orientation of the object by comparing the digital model to the captured image, and then generates a canvas image including a region matching the determined position and orientation of the object. The projector projects the canvas image onto the projection area. A predefined portion of the object corresponding to the reference in the illumination data is thereby illuminated according to the lighting parameters.

  • Patent number: 9047039
Abstract: A configurable imaging system and methods therefor are provided. For each respective display unit in an imaging system having an image source and display units, presence of adjacent display units is detected, each of the display units configured to generate respective portions of an image, the display units arranged in a geometrical configuration. A map of the one of the geometrical configurations is generated based on detection of the presence of the adjacent display units.
