  • Publication number: 20210300839
Abstract: Systems for quenching peroxycarboxylic acid and peroxide chemistry runaway reactions provide safe and efficacious systems to prevent uncontrolled runaway reactions, such as decomposition reactions, of peroxycarboxylic acid and peroxide chemistry compositions are disclosed. The systems provide prompt detection and dispensing of a stabilizer into a tank or other storage vessel containing a peroxide composition, peroxycarboxylic acid composition or a peroxycarboxylic acid-forming composition to stop a runaway reaction. Methods for quenching peroxide and peroxycarboxylic acid runaway reactions are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8883848
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions of peracids, such as peroxycarboxylic acids, having improved antimicrobial efficacy due to ethanol solubilization of the compositions. The enhanced antimicrobial efficacy of the peracid compositions beneficially have a lower use concentration. The invention further relates to methods employing such compositions.

  • Patent number: 8247363
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for removing or preventing scale formation in a liquid food processing operation. The present invention also relates to methods and compositions for increasing the solubility of insoluble calcium salts in an acidic environment. Aqueous antiscalant solutions comprising soluble magnesium salts are used to prevent the precipitation of insoluble calcium salts and/or to increase the solubility of insoluble calcium salts.

  • Publication number: 20090200234
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for cleaning surfaces that are sensitive to high temperatures and/or that have pH limitations. Exemplary surfaces to be cleaned using the methods of the present invention include membranes. The methods of the present invention include applying an active oxygen use solution including an active oxygen source to the surface. An activator complex and an alkaline override use solution are applied to the surface, either in combination, or in a stepwise manner, before, after or simultaneously with the active oxygen use solution.
