  • Patent number: 5265674
Abstract: Methods are provided for remediating subsurface areas contaminated by toxic organic compounds. An innocuous oil, such as vegetable oil, mineral oil, or other immiscible organic liquid, is introduced into the contaminated area and permitted to move therethrough. The oil concentrates or strips the organic contaminants, such that the concentration of the contaminants is reduced and such contaminants are available to be either pumped out of the subsurface area or metabolized by microorganisms. Microorganisms may be introduced into the contaminated area to effect bioremediation of the contamination. The methods may be adapted to deliver microorganisms, enzymes, nutrients and electron donors to subsurface zones contaminated by nitrate in order to stimulate or enhance denitrification.

  • Patent number: 5161514
Abstract: An arrow rest assembly is disclosed for use with an archery bow movable between a cocked position and a released position to propel an arrow forwardly away from the bow. The arrow rest assembly includes an arrow rest arm which engages and supports the arrow adjacent to its forward end when the bow is in its cocked position. A detector assembly detects the movement of the bow from its cocked position towards its released position and, in response thereto, a cam assembly moves the arrow rest laterally away from the arrow to prevent interference between the arrow rest and the arrow as it is propelled forwardly by the bow.

  • Patent number: 4733474
Abstract: The present invention provides an archery sight having an elongated housing which is secured to the bow. A first opening extends through the front and rear sides of the housing while a second opening is longitudinally positioned from the first opening and is only opened to the front side of the bow. A planar mirror is secured along one side of the first opening while the housing and a parabolic mirror is contained within the housing and alinged with the second opening. The other side of the first opening is transparent so that a split image is viewed through the first opening. Both the parabolic mirror and the planar mirror are arranged so that when the halves of the split image viewed through the first opening are aligned, the bow is properly aimed. In another form of the invention, two planar mirrors are contained in the housing while a parabolic mirror is disposed across the second opening. The mirrors can also be constructed as a prism.

  • Patent number: 4061094
Abstract: Apparatus for punch planting of seeds comprising a slotted-rimmed wheel rotatably mounted on a frame with an axis of rotation passing through the center of a gear fixed to the frame. The wheel is equipped with a plurality of drive gears which communicate with and rotate around the fixed gear. On each drive gear is pivotally mounted a magnetic-tipped punch. The rotation of the wheel causes the punches to move in and out of the slots in the wheel. The action of the punch produces a small hole in the soil and embeds a coated seed therein.
