    Abstract: Stable liquid detergent compositions containing a surfactant, an aluminosilicate ion exchange material, a water-soluble detergency builder, and a stabilizing agent are prepared by dispersing the aluminosilicate material in an aqueous solution having a pH less than 7, preferably from about 4 to about 5, to partially gelatinize the aluminosilicate material, and mixing the dispersion with the balance of the ingredients to provide a stable composition having a pH greater than 7.
