  • Patent number: 8745520
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for providing content previews. One apparatus operates to display one or more user interface controls as a foreground against a background on a display device; receive user input resulting in a user interface state that has an associated action; and display as the background a preview of the associated action. In another aspect, the user input gives focus to a user interface control that has associated content; and a preview of the associated content is displayed without further action on the part of the user. In another aspect, user interface controls are displayed; and giving input focus to a particular user interface control that has associated content causes an apparatus to play a preview of the associated content without further action on the part of a user.

  • Patent number: 8739064
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for thumbnail scaling based on display pane size. A computer-implemented method includes displaying a display pane and an image scaling tool on a display device. The display pane is subject to resizing and is displayed at a current width and height. The image scaling tool has two or more selectable positions. The method includes receiving one or more thumbnails. The method includes designating one of the thumbnails to be a reference thumbnail. The reference thumbnail is an image having a particular aspect ratio. The method includes calculating a maximum display width and height at which the reference thumbnail, without being cropped or having its aspect ratio altered, can fit in the display pane. The method includes calculating, for a first of the selectable positions, a target display width and a target display height, the calculation being based on the maximum display width height of the reference thumbnail.

  • Publication number: 20130232420
Abstract: A media player automatically presents portions of content in a sequential manner over time so that a user (or other entity) can focus on reviewing a single portion of content (e.g., a static image, portion of video, music, etc.). As the portions of content are presented, the user can apply one or more applicable commands to respective portions of content in the presented sequence. For example, a user can apply a command such as mark an image for printing. When the media player finishes the sequential presentation of content, the media player provides notification to the user that certain content was marked for printing. Via a dialog box generated by the media player, the user can confirm printing of the marked content.
