  • Patent number: 6450125
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an enclosure for the containment of livestock. Preferably, the livestock enclosure includes a floor assembly forming a planar floor surface and an overlay assembly operably coupled to the floor assembly for selectable engagement with the floor assembly. Preferably, the overlay assembly includes a traction grid having a plurality of grid apertures extending therethrough, wherein the overlay assembly is configured to be placed adjacent the planar floor surface to provide traction for livestock placed within the enclosure. The overlay assembly is preferably configured to be moved, thereby allowing waste from the livestock to flow through the grid apertures and onto the planar floor surface to facilitate removal of said waste from the planar floor surface to clean the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20020102153
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus and associated method for moving livestock from a lower level to an upper level of a storage or transport container. The apparatus preferably includes a hinge attached to the upper level and a ramp assembly connected to the hinge. As such, the ramp assembly is configured for pivotal movement about the hinge from a raised position to a lowered position in closer proximity with the lower level. Preferably, the ramp assembly includes a cleaning chute that is exposed when the ramp assembly is moved to the raised position. The present invention may also be embodied in a livestock transport that includes a loading floor and a cargo floor elevated above the loading floor. In such an embodiment, the ramp assembly is preferably connected to the cargo floor and configured for pivotal movement about a hinge.

  • Patent number: 5718554
Abstract: A truck trailer with a removable rack adapted for loading and unloading livestock without a loading chute. The trailer and rack have pivotable rear sections to define a loading ramp when pivoted to the ground. A pair of slide rails on the upper surface of the trailer and a pair of slide channels on the lower surface of the rack cooperate to guide the rack onto and from the trailer. A number of lock bars are pivotally mounted to the inner side walls of the rack to secure the rack on the trailer. Using a winch and truck hydraulics, one person is able to pull the rack onto the trailer. The task of removing the rack from the trailer can also be performed by one person.
