Abstract: A user enters a document processor simple instructions of the use of an output document and the image finish of the document, for example, by a design instruction input unit. In response to the simple instructions, a design parameter determining unit determines design parameters. An area dividing unit divides the input image into partial image areas of document elements. A logic identifier applying unit applies logic identifiers to the document elements. An output image generator unit processes the document image according to the design parameters provided respectively for the logic identifiers, whereby forming an output image as instructed.

Abstract: A document preparation support system which enables a document preparer to easily prepare a good-looking document meeting his purpose and application while eliminating the need for having any editorial design knowledge and which also enables the document preparer to easily prepare a document having a good result satisfying his intention and application even when the document preparer has no knowledge about how to reflect his intention and application on the document. To this end, in the document preparation support system, inferring operation is carried out with use of such document data as document contents and attributes and such document design knowledge data as evaluation words and document design elements to decide the optimum document design. Further, inferring operation is carried out with use of such document data as document contents and attributes and improper point indication data indicative of improper points in a document being prepared to indicate the improper points in the document.

Abstract: A document style design support system which enables a system user to easily prepare a format design for a document meeting his purpose and application while eliminating the need to have any editorial design knowledge and which also enables the system user to easily design a format for a document satisfying his intention and application even when the system user has no prior document style design experience. In the document style design support system, an inferring operation is carried out with use of such document style design knowledge data including document evaluation words and document attributes and document style design elements to decide an optimum style format. Further, an inferring operation is carried out with use of document style design knowledge data including document evaluation words and document style formatting methods to extract the optimum document style formatting method.
