    Abstract: This invention is a method for fusing, within a bacterial host, a gene for a cytoplasmic protein to a gene for a non-cytoplasmic protein, so that the hybrid protein produced is transported to, near, or beyond the cell surface for ease of collection and purification, or for immunological use. The invention also encompasses the fused gene created by the disclosed method.
