  • Patent number: 8154778
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating color corrected digital image data from a document image according to personal preferences of an identified user of the digital image copy. A color correction profile is provided defining color correction parameters for a particular identified user. The digital image copy is generated in accordance with the color correction profile by replacing problematic colors with alternate presentations as defined by the color correction parameters. The alternate presentations may include corrections to compensate for colorblindness of an identified user. The document image may be logically segmented to identify objects associated with each of a plurality of segments of the document image such as text, graphics, photographic images, etc. The color correction profile may define different color correction parameters to be associated with each defined type of segment.

  • Patent number: 8134762
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to systems and methods for characterization of background regions of substantially-uniform color in a digital image. According to a first aspect of the present invention, a histogram of the first-channel values of a plurality of image pixels may be formed, and a peak region in the first-channel histogram may be detected. Subsequently a histogram of image values of a second channel may be formed accumulating second-channel values for only those image pixels with first-channel values within the peak region of the first-channel histogram, and a peak region in the second-channel histogram may be detected. An image characteristic may be associated with image pixels with first-channel and second-channel values within the first-channel peak and the second-channel peak regions, respectively.

  • Patent number: 8014596
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are related to methods and systems for determining a background color in a digital image. A background color value for a pixel in an image may be determined by summarizing the color values in a color buffer, wherein the color values in the buffer may have been selectively added to the color buffer, from the image data, based on one, or more, criteria which may be related to edge density, image uniformity, non-local color information, a foreground color estimate and other selection criterion. The background color for the pixel maybe determined in a forward scan and updated during a backward scan.

  • Patent number: 8000535
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to systems and methods for refining text segmentation results. Non-text, line elements in a text map may be detected and removed from the text map. Pixels associated with vertical and/or horizontal lines may be identified in the text map based on a background-color constraint, a directional color constraint and a continuity constraint. Run counters and run-reset counters associated with a direction may be used to identify pixels meeting the continuity constraint.

  • Patent number: 7995242
Abstract: A method for attenuation of near-neutral image colors is described. The pixel chroma is determined. A chroma control point is determined. A pixel color is shifted toward neutral. An imaging device that is configured for attenuation of near-neutral image colors is described. The imaging device includes a processor. The imaging processing device includes memory in electronic communication with the processor. Instructions are stored in the memory. The instructions are executable to determine pixel chroma. • Patent number: 7915652
Abstract: An integrated infrared (IR) and full color complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) imager array is provided. The array is built upon a lightly doped p doped silicon (Si) substrate. Each pixel cell includes at least one visible light detection pixel and an IR pixel. Each visible light pixel includes a moderately p doped bowl with a bottom p doped layer and p doped sidewalls. An n doped layer is enclosed by the p doped bowl, and a moderately p doped surface region overlies the n doped layer. A transfer transistor has a gate electrode overlying the p doped sidewalls, a source formed from the n doped layer, and an n+ doped drain connected to a floating diffusion region. The IR pixel is the same, except that there is no bottom p doped layer. An optical wavelength filter overlies the visible light and IR pixels.
