Abstract: Automated alert system software may interface with an electronic medical records (EMR) system and provide interested individuals with immediate notifications of critical changes during a patient's course of treatment in a hospital. This may reduce or minimize the amount of time it takes to notify families of critical moments during a hospital admission, for example. The automated alert system software may interface with the hospital EMR system by directly reading and extracting the necessary information from the database, such as the patient name and emergency contact information.
