Patent number: 11960707Abstract: An electronic device provides, to a display, data to present a user interface that includes a plurality of user interface objects, and a current focus on a first user interface object. While the display is presenting the user interface, the electronic device receives an input that corresponds to a movement of a contact across on a touch-sensitive surface. The electronic device, in response to receiving the input and in accordance with a determination that a first axis is a dominant axis, moves the current focus along the first axis by a first amount and along the second axis by a second amount. The amount of movement of the current focus along the second axis is reduced to a first non-zero amount by a scaling factor that is based on one or more inputs received prior to receiving the input.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2023Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Marcos Alonso Ruiz, Nicole M. SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING WIDE-AREA IMAGING AND COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITY TO A HANDHELD DEVICE
Publication number: 20220086390Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for utilizing a wireless, handheld communication device to image a scene in multiple directions, so as to include multiple parties in addition to the user, and also, optionally, to project images on a plurality of display screens. The housing of the smartphone is adapted to provide a multi-camera and multi-screen arrangement. More particularly, the housing of the smartphone is adapted to include (at least) a front-directed camera and a rear-directed camera on respective front and rear faces, and openings along the left and right side edges for small-scale cameras and associated protective windows that are directed to image the left and right areas adjacent to the phone. The side cameras can also be provided in a removable case and a hub can be used to coordinate data feeds, including those from peripheral devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 23, 2021Publication date: March 17, 2022Inventors: Salvatore Erna, David Roberts, Jonathan D. Patent number: 11117307Abstract: A system for depositing a composite filler material into a channel of a composite structure includes an end-effector configured to extrude a bead of the filler material into the channel. The filler material can comprise a first group of relatively long fibers, a second group of relatively short fibers and a resin. A drive system is configured to move the end-effector relative to the channel, and a position sensor is configured to detect the position of the bead relative to the channel. A controller is configured to operate the drive system in response to the detected position and to operate the end-effector to heat and compress the filler material so as to orient the longer fibers in a substantially longitudinal direction relative to the channel and the shorter fibers in substantially random directions relative to the channel when the bead is extruded into the channel.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2019Date of Patent: September 14, 2021Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Weidong Song, Daniel J. Perron, Stephen G. Moore, Jamie J. Langabeer, Jonathan D. Robbins, Jeffrey Olberg

Patent number: 10117472Abstract: A glove can include an integrated wrist wrap that is split to allow a watch to be worn with the glove. The glove comprises a hand portion within which a wearer's hand is placed and a wrist wrap attached to a proximal edge of the hand portion and configured to extend around the wearer's wrist when the wearer's hand is placed in the hand portion. The wrist wrap can include a slit that extends lengthwise within the wrist wrap. When the wearer is also wearing a watch, the watch can be inserted through the slit so that the wrist wrap will be positioned on each side of the watch thereby allowing the face of the watch to remain visible while still providing support to the wrist. A split wrist wrap without a hand portion is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2016Date of Patent: November 6, 2018Assignee: Fit Four, LLCInventor: Jonathan D Robbins
