  • Patent number: 10021952
Abstract: A system and method for an intelligent hair drying/styling apparatus with user information transmission and storage capabilities is herein provided. The hair drying/styling apparatus houses a control circuit board and an infrared or temperature sensor (or camera) in order detect an individual's hair condition moisture level to determine a user specific, customizable dryer setting. The information detected by the sensor is stored locally, on a proximal Internet-enabled device, or on a remote or cloud-based server and accessed by the hair drying/styling apparatus through a wireless local area network connectivity function. Accordingly, a user's hair temperature-drying profile may be stored and later recalled to provide optimal hair styling setting customized for that user. This innovation will enable any number of hair professionals and or end consumers to improve styling and dry time.

  • Publication number: 20160034980
Abstract: Method and system for evaluating the condition of client equipment and accurately assess the price and extend of repairs. The method includes extracting necessary information from a client device and subsequently evaluating the information automatically. Further, the method includes categorizing the client device based on the extracted information. Furthermore, the method includes evaluating the price of the client device buy back condition based on the categorization. Moreover, the method includes assessing current condition of the client device and predicting the best buy back price for the client device in response to the assessment.

  • Patent number: 8315574
Abstract: A method for communication includes transmitting data from a transmitter to a receiver using Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM). The data rate is set by selecting, based on feedback, an ACM profile defining a Forward Error Correction code and a modulation scheme. Upon detecting that the feedback is unusable, an operation of the transmitter is changed independently of the feedback. In another method, data is exchanged over two opposite directions of a bidirectional link that uses ACM by communicating using two ACM profiles. A joint constraint is defined on the two directions. The two ACM profiles are set based on first and second measured reception quality metrics of the two link directions, to meet the joint constraint. In yet another method, a subset of the ACM profiles is temporarily disabled, and the data is transmitted using only the ACM profiles that are not disabled.

  • Patent number: 8165008
Abstract: A method for communication includes receiving a composite signal, which carries data at a first data rate and includes multiple sub-signals that are interleaved in a time domain and are separated by boundary indicators. The received composite signal is demultiplexed into the sub-signals by automatically detecting the boundary indicators between the sub-signals in the composite signal. The sub-signals are demodulated using multiple respective demodulators operating at second data rates that are lower than the first data rate so as to generate respective output data streams. The output data streams are combined so as to reconstruct the data at the first data rate.

  • Patent number: 8001445
Abstract: A method for communication includes receiving first and second data frames over first and second communication links, respectively, the first and second data frames containing respective first and second replicas of data, which has been encoded with a Forward Error Correction (FEC) code. The FEC code in the received first and second data frames is decoded, and respective first and second soft quality ranks of the first and second data frames are computed based on the decoded FEC code. One of the first and second replicas of the data are selected based on the first and second soft quality ranks. The selected one of the first and second replicas of the data is provided as output.

  • Patent number: 7979805
Abstract: A processing device may include a display screen and one or more buttons located near the display screen. Pressing one of the one or more buttons may cause the processing device to perform a first function and pressing and holding the one of the one or more buttons may cause the processing device to perform a second function. When the one of the one or more buttons is pressed, the processing device may provide a first feedback describing the first function. When the one of the one or more buttons is pressed and held for at least a predetermined amount of time, the processing device may provide a second feedback describing the second function. In some implementations, a time indicator may be displayed indicating an amount of passing time until the one of the one or more buttons is pressed and held for the predetermined amount of time.

  • Patent number: 7821938
Abstract: A method for communication includes accepting input data from two or more data sources, one or more of which include continuous synchronous tributaries, for transmission over a wireless communication link having a variable data rate. Relative priorities are assigned to the respective data sources. A currently-available data rate of the communication link is determined. The input data accepted from the data sources is multiplexed to produce a composite data stream. The input data of at least one of the tributaries is selectively omitted from the composite data stream based on the respective relative priorities, in order to match the data rate of the composite data stream to the currently-available data rate of the communication link. The composite data stream is transmitted over the communication link.

  • Patent number: 7720136
Abstract: A method for communication over a communication link, which includes a transmitter and a receiver, includes transmitting and receiving data, which is encoded using a specified forward error correction (FEC) code, modulated using a specified modulation scheme and transmitted at a given power level. One or more parameters of the communication link are monitored. A condition, which is based on values of one or more of the parameters monitored at a plurality of historical time instants, is evaluated. At least one feature of the transmitted data, selected from a group of features consisting of the FEC code, the modulation scheme and the power level, is modified based on the condition.

  • Publication number: 20080005875
Abstract: Fastening mechanisms are disclosed for engaging and disengaging device components while maintaining electrical connections among engaged components. A male fastening mechanism may include a front male head portion with a larger circumference than a relatively narrower lower male body portion. A female fastening mechanism may include an opening in a housing structure for receiving the front male head portion. A clip or spring may be arranged in the female housing surrounding portions of the opening. Moreover, the spring's terminating portions may be unconnected and protrude into the opening. The spring may be displaced to accommodate the front male head portion as it enters the female housing opening between the spring's terminating portions. The spring may retract or snap back inwards towards the relatively narrower lower male body portion as it passes through the opening and past the spring's terminating portions to engage the mechanisms and secure device components together.
