  • Patent number: 5944311
Abstract: An enclosure puzzle whose preferred embodiment comprises a primary end cap (31) and a secondary end cap (32) rigidly mounted to face each other across a short distance. Spanning the distance are four rods (44, 45, 47 and 48), including two blocking rods (44 and 48), evenly spaced to form a cage, the rod ends penetrating the caps. Contained within the primary end cap are a primary pendulum (50) and tertiary pendulum (57). A secondary pendulum (52) is contained within the secondary end cap. To unlock the cage, one end of the release rod (45), is withdrawn from end cap (32) when the rod's other end is allowed full penetration of end cap (31). However, such penetration is normally blocked by tertiary pendulum (57).

  • Patent number: 5467510
Abstract: A sock tagging device and associated method for tagging socks to facilitate their mating, sorting and selection. The preferred embodiment of the device comprises four color-coded components including a tack (1), so named for its resemblance to a common thumbtack, a washer (19), a cap core (14), and a cap ring (17), the core and ring together constituting a dome-shaped cap (18). When the device is attached to the upper portion of a sock, held securely in place by internal friction alone, cap (18) protrudes on the outer side of the sock fabric while the circular base of the tack, called the tack disc (3), appears on the inner side. Immediately surrounding the circumference of the tack disc can be seen the peripheral portion of the larger diameter washer (19) underlying it. The dual component, dome-shaped cap (18) displays a concentrically sequenced color pair matched by the cap color pair of another such device attached to an appropriate sock mate.

  • Patent number: 5294229
Abstract: An electronic communication system and method of utilizing same for telephonically exchanging between teacher and parent information regarding student homework assignments, attendance, classroom behavior, and academic performance. During the school day each teacher carries a small, portable terminal (1) which not only accepts manually entered numeric data, but also produces digital audio recordings of voiced homework assignments, announcements, and comments made by the teacher. Upon leaving at the end of the day, the teacher returns the remote terminal to a centrally located storage rack (2). The system's central computer (3), electronically connected to the rack, then extracts data from the newly inserted terminal. The numeric and audio information thus gathered from a multiplicity of such terminals is organized by the computer and made telephonically available to participating parents.
