  • Patent number: 8589667
Abstract: According to one aspect, a multifunctional computing device having a wireless communications processor (e.g., cellular processor) and an application processor (e.g., general-purpose processor such as a CPU) share a storage device that is associated with or attached to the application processor. An example of such a multifunctional computing device may be a Smartphone device having a cellular phone and handheld computer functionalities. There is no specific storage device directly associated with or attached to the wireless communications processor (hereinafter simply referred to as a wireless processor). Instead, the wireless processor communicates with the application processor via a high speed communications link, such as a USB link, to access code and data stored in the storage device (e.g., flash memory device) associated with the application processor.

  • Publication number: 20130290572
Abstract: A host device can enable operation with a client device based on stored or cached enumeration information. The enumeration information can be initially received from the client device during a first configuration process, and stored or cached in volatile and/or non-volatile storage accessible by the host device. During subsequent configuration processes, operation with the client device can be enabled based on the stored or cached enumeration information. Operation between the host device and the client device can be facilitated through a communication protocol, such as the universal serial bus (USB) protocol. A host device and client device can be connected via a traditional USB or USB High Speed Inter-Chip (HSIC) connection.

  • Patent number: 8572421
Abstract: Adjusting processor performance based on processing profiles. The method may determine that a process has entered a processing state after an idle state. In response to entering the processing state the processing time of the processor may be monitored. In response to the processing time exceeding a first threshold of time, the performance of the processor may be increased from a first level to a second level. In response to the processing time exceeding a second threshold time, the performance of the processor may be decreased from the second level to a third level.

  • Publication number: 20120054734
Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, a software update image is received by a software updater from a server over a network and stored in an update volume to update one or more system components of a computing device, where the software update image is signed by the server and includes an identifier that uniquely identifies the computing device. A volume manager dynamically resizes the system volume based on a requirement of the one or more system components to be updated without physically relocating data stored in the data volume of the storage device. The software update image is then authenticated including verifying a signature of the image and matching the ID with a unique ID embedded within the device. The one or more system components are installed from the software update image from the update volume into the resized system volume.

  • Patent number: 7793272
Abstract: In program code conversion, particularly dynamic binary translation, subject code 17 is translated into target code 21 through a translator 19 for execution on a target processor 13. Selected portions of subject code, such as library functions SFuncA 172, are replaced by instead executing a portion of native code such as a native function NFuncA 282. The native function is native to the target processor 13. The method further includes executing a subject code portion such as a subject function SFuncB 173 in place of a native code portion such library function NFuncB 283. This reverse binding technique substitutes subject code for selected portions of the native code, particularly native library functions in order to keep control within the translator 19. This helps to maintain an accurate subject state in the translator 19, amongst other advantages.
