  • Publication number: 20180247396
Abstract: Inverse tone mapping based on luminance zones is provided. A digital image can be obtained and luminance values of pixels of the digital image can be determined. One or more values of luminance zone boundaries can be determined. A zone expansion exponent map based on the luminance values and the one or more luminance zone boundaries can be determined. The one or more luminance zone boundaries divide the zone expansion exponent map into a plurality of luminance zones. The luminance values of the image can be inverse tone mapped based on the zone expansion exponent map. An expanded dynamic range image can be provided based on the inverse tone mapped luminance values.

  • Publication number: 20170178342
Abstract: Systems and methods of grouping image regions of an image and processing the image based on the different groups are disclosed. A system is provided including a processor and a memory storing instructions. The instructions cause the processor to obtain an image and determine multiple image regions of the image. A morphological skeleton is determined for each of the image regions, and distances between image regions are determined based on the morphological skeletons. Multiple groups of two or more of the image regions are determined based on the distances, and the image is processed based on the groups.

  • Publication number: 20160182797
Abstract: Image saturation of a sensor pixel array is reduced by adjusting RGB color channel gains for an LED light source. Pixel saturation information is obtained from a sensor pixel array with an image on it illuminated by the LED light source. It is then analyzed to determine saturation levels of the captured image for each RGB component of the LED light source. The gain of each RGB color channel of the LED light source is then adjusted to reduce pixel saturation when using the LED light source for image capturing.

  • Patent number: 9237276
Abstract: To capture an image, the image sensing period of this image is subdivided into a plurality of successive illumination periods, and the value which is assigned to each pixel to capture the image is the sum of the integrals of intensity of illumination of this pixel over each of said successive illumination periods. According to the invention, this sum is weighted by an apodization function in order to emulate a mechanical shutter. Temporal aliasing issues and temporal ringing artifacts of digital imaging are prevented or at least limited.
