Publication number: 20220282593Abstract: A circulation valve for a well, with a housing allowing fluid flow with an outlet from the housing and a control sleeve controlling flow through the outlet. A support member supports the control sleeve, closing the outlet when the valve is in compression. The support member is slidable with respect to the control sleeve and disengages from the control sleeve when the valve is in tension, permitting movement of the control sleeve to open the outlet in response to a minimum flow rate through the valve while the valve is in tension.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2020Publication date: September 8, 2022Applicant: Circulate Plus LimitedInventor: Jonathan Peter BUCKLAND

Publication number: 20220136360Abstract: A wellbore plug comprises a body received within a tubular in an oil or gas well, and engaging a seat to seal an annulus. A sealing member occludes the bore in a first configuration. A spring urges the sealing member towards one end of the body in the first configuration. A locking member locks the sealing member in the first configuration, and can be unlocked in response to pressure within the bore above a pressure threshold, which permits movement of the sealing member to a second configuration. The spring expands when pressure within the bore is reduced below the threshold to push the sealing member into a third configuration, which permits fluid passage through the bore. A method of pressure testing and a method of injecting fluid into a well is also disclosed, using the wellbore plug.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2020Publication date: May 5, 2022Applicant: Westfield Engineering and Technology LtdInventor: Jonathan Peter Buckland

Patent number: 11203902Abstract: A guide shoe (1), adapted for connection to an end of a tubular for deployment in a wellbore of an oil, gas, or water well, includes: a body (10) having an axis (2) and being adapted for connection to the tubular such that torque can be transmitted between the tubular and the body (10); a nose (50) adapted for connection to the body (10); a locking mechanism (30) adapted to shift between an unlocked configuration, in which rotation of the nose (50) around the axis of the body (10) is permitted in first and second directions, and a locked configuration in which rotation of the nose (50) around the axis of the body (10) is restricted in at least one of the first and second directions. The guide shoe includes a resilient biasing device (20) urging the nose (50) into the locked configuration.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2019Date of Patent: December 21, 2021Assignee: DOWNHOLE PRODUCTS LIMITEDInventors: Alexander Craig MacKay, Jonathan Peter Buckland

Publication number: 20210270092Abstract: A centralizer for use in a wellbore includes: a body for disposing around a periphery of a casing or liner string, the body having a plurality of bow springs biased toward an expanded position; a mandrel for disposing around the periphery of the casing or liner string; a piston disposed around the mandrel and movable between a locked position and a release position; a plurality of dogs, each dog mounted to or formed integrally with the respective bow spring and captured by the piston in the locked position, thereby keeping the bow springs in a retracted position; an atmospheric chamber formed between the piston and the mandrel; and a fastener for releasably connecting the piston to the mandrel in the locked position.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2019Publication date: September 2, 2021Inventor: JONATHAN PETER BUCKLAND

Patent number: 10968722Abstract: A valve assembly (1) for use particularly in a deviated wellbore of an oil, gas or water well comprises a body (50) with an axis and first and second resiliently deformable seats (20, 25) to seat a valve closure member (10a) such as a ball, the seats being deformable to allow passage of the ball at different first and second fluid pressures acting on the seated valve closure member. The first and second seats are axially spaced from one another on a control sleeve (60) on opposite sides of an inner end of a selectively operable fluid outlet conduit connecting the bore with an external surface of the valve assembly, and operation of the valve assembly at pressures between the first and second pressures opens and closes the outlet while maintaining the ball between the first and second seats.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2017Date of Patent: April 6, 2021Assignee: M-l Drilling Fluids UK LimitedInventors: Jonathan Peter Buckland, James Edward Atkins

Patent number: 10597974Abstract: A valve assembly for use in a wellbore of an oil, gas or water well, having a valve seat to seat a valve closure member such as a ball, and a control member that is adapted to cycle the valve assembly between first and second configurations of the valve assembly when the ball is seated on the seat. The valve assembly may be adapted to return the valve assembly to the first configuration when the valve closure member is seated on the seat, and may repeatedly, continuously and/or sequentially cycle from first to second configurations and back to first configuration to open and close an outlet port while the same valve member is seated on the seat. The valve seat may comprise first and second seat members and retain the ball in a cleft between the first and second seat members.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2016Date of Patent: March 24, 2020Assignee: M-I DRILLING FLUIDS UK LTDInventors: James Edward Atkins, Jonathan Peter Buckland, James Linklater
