    Abstract: A battery protection circuit includes: a charging control switch connected in series to a big current path between a battery module configured with a plurality of cells connected in series and a plurality of pack terminals; a battery controller for controlling the charging control switch based on cell voltages of the cells; and a plurality of first protection circuits connected to the respective cells on the big current path, and intercepting or allowing a current flowing to the corresponding cell based on the cell voltage of the corresponding cell from among the cells, wherein the first protection circuits respectively include at least one switch connected in series between neighboring cells or between one of the cells and a first pack terminal from among the pack terminals, and a cell controller for controlling the at least one switch according to a cell voltage of the corresponding cell.

The second common node is adjacent to the second battery cell between the first and second battery cells. The first connection member is configured such that as the distance from the first common node is increased, a resistance for unit length is gradually increased.     Abstract: An external battery is disclosed. In one aspect, the external battery includes an input terminal configured to receive power from an external charger, a charge current generator configured to generate a charge current based on the received power and a bare cell configured to output a voltage corresponding to the charge current. The external battery also includes a direct current to direct current (DC-DC) converter configured to convert the output voltage of the bare cell into a voltage with a different value from that of the output voltage and output the converted voltage. The external battery further includes an output terminal configured to apply the converted voltage to an external device and a main controller unit (MCU) configured to determine whether the external device is properly connected to the output terminal based at least in part on the output voltage of the bare cell.
