  • Patent number: 5420729
Abstract: Automatic head cleaning apparatus and method for checking insensitivity of a VCR video head and for performing a head cleaning operation for a predetermined period. When the insensitivity of the video head is not corrected even after the head cleaning operation for the predetermined period, the VCR tape is ejected. Simultaneously, an alarm notifying a failure of the VCR is activated. A VCR head cleaner is also provided that is in close contact with a VCR drum head due to a magnetic reluctance force during the head cleaning operation. The VCR head cleaner prevents the video head from being subjected to adverse impact and frictional force, and is easily installed requiring no additional space within the VCR. Furthermore, the cleaning operation is automatically completed.

  • Patent number: 5081607
Abstract: A digital arithmetic logic unit in which the carry chain is subdivided into a series of bit fields allowing independent and simultaneous data manipulation to be undertaken in each of the bit fields. Division of the carry chain is achieved via a carry chain selector consisting of a series of multiplexers, one being placed between each pair of adjacent stages of the carry chain. Each multiplexer has two data inputs, one of which forms the carry to the next stage of the carry chain. The carry selected either continues the computation or defines the end of one bit field and provides the least significant carry-in bit to the next bit field. This selection of the carry by the multiplexer is under control of a programmable register, thus allowing variable division of the carry chain.

  • Patent number: 4912577
Abstract: A tracking apparatus for a VCR comprises an operational amplifier comparator for comparing a reference voltage with an integrated drum rotation pulse signal. First and second switches are provided to respectively increase and decrease the value of the reference voltage applied to the operational amplifier comparator to respectively decrease and increase the width of a pulse signal produced by the comparator and input to a monostable multivibrator which controls the positioning of a video head relative to an advancing track of a scanned video tape. In this way, tracking adjustment can be performed by remote control and does not depend on the use of variable resistors usually present for the purpose of volume control.

  • Patent number: 4849830
Abstract: When a speed change occurs during a reproduction mode of a VCR, an analog video signal is developed that has a width determined by synchronizing the analog video signal to a point in time when an electrical potential for the head switching signal is shifted. The analog video signal is applied as a compensating signal to video signals so that a rising level is compensated for near a forced synchronizing signal. Thereby, a condition is provided for the forced synchronizing signal to be reliably detected without being effected by noise signals corresponding to the forced synchronizing signal in order to produce a stable picture.
