    Abstract: A communication system for providing an HDTV (High Definition Television)-level multimedia service over a VDSL (Very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line). The communication system comprises a client terminal device in a subscriber residence, a service provider, and an access network. The terminal device allows a user of the client terminal device to access a network through the VDSL. The service provider provides HDTV-level multimedia service programs and includes a zapping server. The zapping server accepts an HDTV-level multimedia service request signal of a channel requested by the user of the client terminal device, responds to the client terminal device, and provides one of the HDTV-level multimedia service programs corresponding to the channel requested by the user of the client terminal device.
