    Abstract: Provided are a method of preparing a metal oxide-silica composite aerogel, which includes preparing metal oxide-silica composite precipitates by adding a metal salt solution to a silicate solution and performing a reaction, and washing the metal oxide-silica composite precipitates with a washing solvent having a surface tension at 20±5° C. of 30 mN/m or less and drying the washed metal oxide-silica composite precipitates, and a metal oxide-silica composite aerogel having increased specific surface area and pore properties as well as tap density, which is significantly reduced by a maximum of 78.6% in comparison to a composite aerogel prepared by using water as a typical washing solvent, prepared by the method.

The preparation method according to the present invention may not only have good economic efficiency because production costs are relatively reduced in comparison to the related art, but may also effectively prevent the collapse of a pore structure by suppressing a shrinkage phenomenon during drying. Thus, a metal oxide-silica composite aerogel prepared by the above preparation method may have higher specific surface area and better pore characteristics than a conventional metal oxide-silica composite aerogel prepared by oven drying while having low tap density.

In accordance with the present invention, a separator capable of obtaining sufficient adhesion force with minimizing the amount of an adhesive used for the adhesion with an electrode, and minimizing the deterioration of battery performances can be easily manufactured.

    Abstract: A pouch type secondary battery includes an electrode assembly and a pouch sheath material including a first pouch portion and a second pouch portion. The pouch-type secondary battery includes dual electrode leads wherein a first electrode lead is attached to the first pouch portion and a second electrode lead is attached to the second pouch portion. In the pouch-type secondary battery, electric current is interrupted by using a volumetric swelling phenomenon caused by swelling or pressure generated upon overcharge so that the battery may be prevented from being further charged. In addition, when pressure is increased by an additional reaction, venting occurs toward the inner lead portion of each of the dual electrode leads. As a result, it is possible to increase the stability of a battery cell, module and a pack received in the pouch, and thus to improve the life of a battery.
