    Abstract: A rapid reel braking device for a video cassette tape recorder comprising a function plate adapted to operate brakes for applying a braking force to reels of the recorder, a cam gear with several operative positions corresponding to various operation modes of the recorder, respectively, a connecting lever operatively connecting the function plate and the cam gear, and a lever mechanism including a hook lever and a hit lever and functioning to determine a desired operative position corresponding to the operation mode of the recorder.
