  • Patent number: 5620235
Abstract: A vehicle wheel has a rotatively mounted rim and a pneumatic tire detachably arranged thereon. The tire has a body with a torus-shaped cross section, an approximately cylindrical running surface and two radial side walls. Two tire seats reinforced by traction-resistant core rings for fastening the tire between horns arranged at the ends of the rim are located at the ends of the tire which face the rim. At least one of the horns of the rim has a greater radial length and extends at least up to the middle area of the respective side wall of the tire. The side walls of the tire are flexible in the whole area between the tire seats and the tire shoulders.

  • Patent number: 5618362
Abstract: A radial ply tire for vehicle wheels has a torus-shaped body of elastomeric material which contains a belt-shaped reinforcing insert which has in the region underneath the tread of the tire a strip which is stretchable, pre-loadable and, under the influence of external forces, restorable in the circumferential direction of the tire. The strip of the reinforcing insert contains apertures extending largely transversely with respect to the circumferential direction of the tire. The apertures extend only partially through the strip in a transverse direction and are arranged in rows, the apertures being parallel and offset with respect to one another in successive rows. Between them there are transversely extending unbroken portions which provide the desired transverse stiffness of the belt.

  • Patent number: 5417266
Abstract: A belt ply for pneumatic tires including at least one ring of sheet or strip material extending in the circumferential direction of the tire. These rings include extension zones formed of undulations, projections or recesses, extending transversely to the circumferential direction of the tire. The rings additionally include notches or recesses of defined length extending in the circumferential direction to improve the flexibility of the tire in the extension zones.

  • Patent number: 5010937
Abstract: Disclosed is a belted tire for vehicles, which comprises a toroidally curved body of elastic material with a tread surface at the outer periphery and a circumferentially extending annular belt construction which is embedded as an insert in the elastic material of the body in the region of the tread surface and which comprises two parts, namely a circumferential belt for circumferential stiffness and a transverse belt for transverse stiffness. The circumferential belt has a number of annular strength supports which are arranged in laterally spaced juxtaposed relationship in at least one plane and which extend in the circumferential direction of the body, and the transverse belt has at least one transverse bracing strength support which extends approximately over the width of the tread surface and which is embedded in the elastic material in parallel relationship and at a spacing from the circumferentially extending strength supports of the circumferential belt.

  • Patent number: 4817696
Abstract: Disclosed is a rubber pneumatic tire for vehicles which has two beads for bearing against the rim of a wheel. Embedded in each bead is a core ring which has a shaped ring and around which a carcass insert which is embedded into the rubber material of the tire is laid, for anchoring same. Each shaped ring comprises a material which chemically bonds to the rubber material, and contains a winding of high-strength fibres, which is laid in the shaped ring and which holds together and strengthens the shaped ring.

  • Patent number: 4811772
Abstract: A pneumatic tire having beads disposed about an inner diameter of the tire for mounting to the flanges of a wheel of a vehicle is disclosed. Each of the beads includes a multi-part annular core comprising rings having an L-shape or U-shape cross-section including substantially flat limbs. The rings are mechanically interlocked to provide the core with portions of the limbs disposed in adjacent relationship for receiving therebetween ends of the tire carcass plies and securing them to the cores.

  • Patent number: 4809758
Abstract: Disclosed is a belted tire for vehicles, which comprises a toroidally curved body of elastic material with a tread surface at the outer periphery and a peripherally extending annular belt construction which is embedded as an insert in the elastic material of the body in the region of the tread surface and which comprises two parts, namely a peripheral belt for peripheral stiffness and a transverse belt for transverse stiffness, wherein the peripheral belt has a number of annular strength supports which are arranged in laterally spaced juxtaposed relationship in at least one plane and which extend in the peripheral direction of the body, and the transverse belt has at least one transverse bracing strength support which extends approximately over the width of the tread surface and which is embedded in the elastic material in parallel relationship and at a spacing from the peripherally extending strength supports of the peripheral belt, and wherein the transverse belt is stretchable in the peripheral direction o

  • Patent number: 4662418
Abstract: A vehicle wheel has a wheel body or hub, an annular rigid rim mounted on it and an elastic inflatable tire mounted on the rim, the beads of the tire engaging annular recesses present on the inner face of the rim. The rim is provided with side flanks of the same curvature matched to the curvature which the flanks of the tire take up in operation, and between which is provided an annular engaging surface extending over the whole width of the rim from flank to flank, this surface giving the wheel good emergency characteristics. The inserts in the beads of the tire do not need any thickened beads which would adversely affect the resilience of its side walls, but only need to be made constructionally and to hold the reinforcing cords. The rim is made in one piece of a light material such as plastics or aluminum and can form an air reservoir for compressed air which is under high pressure and which automatically replenishes the tire when needed.
