    Abstract: Described is a color-stable abrasive article that includes a phenolic resin binder; a color stabilizer, a colorant, and abrasive grains. The color stabilizer includes at least one acrylate. The color-stable abrasive article is formed by a method including the steps of blending a resole and a color stabilizer to form a resole composition; contacting a plurality of abrasive particles with the resole composition; and curing the resole composition to produce the color-stable abrasive article. Thus provided are color stabilized phenolic bound abrasives and a method for making such abrasives that resist color change over time and upon exposure to high temperature and maintain the mechanical strength of a phenolic resin.

In one embodiment, the magnesium silicates include talc, the potassium aluminum silicates include micas, the aluminum silicates include clays, and the calcium silicates include wollastonite. The silicas can be selected from the group consisting of fused silica, fumed silica, and precipitated amorphous silica. The metal carbonates can include calcium carbonate. The metal sulfates can include hydrous calcium sulfate or anhydrous calcium sulfate.

    Abstract: An adhesive for use in coated abrasive belt joints includes a blocked isocyanate, urethane system. The blocking agent can include phenols, oximes, alcohols, caprolactam, and diethyl malonate. The adhesive can be crosslinked with amine or alcohol. A coated abrasive belt is formed by attaching a plurality of abrasive particles to a first surface of a backing layer. A size coat is deposited over the abrasive particles to form a coated abrasive. The coated abrasive is cut to form a strip having a first end and a second end. The ends of the strip are joined with an adhesive including a blocked isocyanate, urethane system.
