  • Publication number: 20220287469
Abstract: A side rail of a mattress that may be used with an adjustable bed may include a main body that facilitate adjustment of the mattress while maximizing contact between a bottom of the mattress and an upper supporting surface of an adjustable bedframe. More specifically, the main body of the side rail may include a top edge with one or more upper recesses therein and a bottom edge with one or more lower recesses therein. An upper insert may be secured within each upper recess, while a lower insert may be secured within each lower recess. The material from which each upper insert and lower insert is formed may be more compressible than a material from which the main body of the side rail is formed to enable the side rail and the mattress to bend with the supporting surface of the adjustable bedframe.

  • Publication number: 20200299815
Abstract: A metal matrix composite is provided, including a metal, inorganic particles, and discontinuous fibers. The inorganic particles and the discontinuous fibers are dispersed in the metal. The metal includes aluminum, magnesium, or alloys thereof. The inorganic particles have an envelope density that is at least 30% less than a density of the metal. The metal matrix composite has a lower envelope density than the matrix metal while retaining a substantial amount of the mechanical properties of the metal.

  • Patent number: 10226072
Abstract: A combination lighter and cigar-splitter device can include an aperture extending through a portion of the lighter body. A cutting blade can be positioned within the aperture, or proximate to the aperture in the case of an adjustable cutting blade. For example, the cutting blade can be retractable such that when the cutting blade is fully retracted, no portion of the cutting blade is exposed within the aperture. The cutting blade can also be adjustable to one of a plurality of positions to accommodate different diameter cigars.

  • Publication number: 20180272428
Abstract: A method of making a porous metal matrix composite is provided. The method includes mixing a metal powder, a plurality of inorganic particles, and a plurality of discontinuous fibers to form a mixture, wherein the metal powder comprises aluminum, magnesium, an aluminum alloy, or a magnesium alloy. The method further includes sintering the mixture to form the porous metal matrix composite. Typically, the inorganic particles comprise porous particles or ceramic bubbles or glass bubbles, and the inorganic particles and the discontinuous fibers are dispersed in the metal. The metal matrix composite has a lower density than the metal and an acceptable yield strength.
