Abstract: The nut provided with an edible coating comprises a nut and, at least, a layer of coating for said nut which includes an edible film, said film comprising an edible compound selected from the group formed of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, ethylmethyl cellulose, acacia gum, maltodextrin, a lipid or a combination of various lipids, and their mixtures. The edible coating acts as a protection that extends the useful life of the nut and, potentially, also serves as a carrier for additives that alter the original features of the nut.
