  • Patent number: 7098956
Abstract: For the video recording of a field illuminated by a lamp, especially a surgical lamp, where at least one light beam for illuminating the field emerges from a light exit area of a lamp housing in the direction of a predetermined housing axis, the optical axis of a video camera mounted with freedom to swivel a certain distance away from the exit point of the light beam is shifted automatically by a positioning element until the axis at least approximately intersects the light beam in the area of the illuminated field. The positioning element is driven by signals from a control unit. The video camera is preferably shifted in a stepwise manner. The distance to the illuminated field is determined by the fine focusing of the camera by the autofocus function, and then signals are transmitted from the control unit to the positioning element of the camera to compensate for the parallax between the optical axis of the camera and the light beam or beams emerging from the lamp.

  • Patent number: 6511210
Abstract: An operating-room lighting device with an inner lighting unit that includes at least one discharge lamp and an inner reflector in a housing. The lighting unit is at least partially enclosed by an outer annular housing with an annularly or polygonally designed reflector for convergent deviation of light emitted by the lighting unit into an illumination field. The outer reflector includes, on its side facing the inner lighting unit, a closed transparent surface whose back adjoins a reflective layer. The reflective layer is applied to the back of the transparent surface. The inner lighting unit and the outer reflector are held together by a connecting member, which is articulated to a curved intermediate piece for attachment to a stationary support.

  • Patent number: 6498436
Abstract: In order to make continuous lamp operation in a failsafe lamp, particularly a lamp for medical applications, having a discharge lamp possible even When changing over between a power supply system (low voltage supply system of, for example, 24 V) and an additional safety power supply (ZSV), a buffer store is discharged in the event of a fault in the power supply for a supply unit for the lamp by changing over to a standby power source, or, once the fault has been elitinated, from the standby power source back to the normal power supply, the buffer store outputting electrical energy to operate the discharge lamp. The electrical energy supplied to the supply unit (EVG) first passes through a full-wave rectifier and is then supplied to a voltage converter containig the buffer store. The discharge lamp is subsequently supplied with the electrical energy via a power-regulated inverter. Thus, it is ensured that, even for changeover procedures with different current types—e.g.

  • Patent number: 6120529
Abstract: To heat horizontal surfaces on which patients are placed after surgery, an irradiation apparatus with halogen lamps is provided, the radiation of which is directed toward the horizontal surface to heat it. The surface temperature prevailing in the irradiated area of the horizontal resting surface is detected by a pyrometric sensor as long-wave infrared radiation. This temperature value is used as the controlled variable and is compared with a predetermined nominal value, such as 37.degree. C. In the event of a deviation, a control signal corrects the irradiation intensity by adjusting the power supply to the halogen lamps.

  • Patent number: 6080464
Abstract: A reflector for a medical luminaire, for use with an incandescent bulb or a discharge bulb, which includes a reflector blank having a reflecting surface, the reflecting surface being provided with a plurality of trapezoidal facets tapering toward the point of intersection with the axis of rotation, the facets being arrayed on at least 8 circular rings around an axis of rotation of the reflector and at least 50 facets being provided in each circular ring.

  • Patent number: 5800051
Abstract: A medical lamp having a reflector in the shape of an ellipsoid of rotation containing on its interior side a plurality of facets which provide for a largely shadow-free illumination of the area to be lit. An opening is provided in the reflector, which is surrounded by a ring flange. A lamp having a spiral-wound filament therein is inserted into the ring flange so that its bulb is oriented towards the surface of the reflector where the light exits, whereby the spiral-wound filament in the bulb is positioned along the reflector axis. The bulb has a base with a cylindrical portion which is adjacent to a plate flange. The cylindrical portion of the base is encircled by the ring flange of the reflector opening in such a manner that the bulb is secured against shifting in the radial direction of the reflector axis.

  • Patent number: 5743628
Abstract: A field-of-operation illuminating device has at least one discharge lamp concentrically surrounded by several halide incandescent lamps at its bottom, which faces the field of operation. The discharge lamp is accommodated in a stationary reflector and illuminates the recesses of the field. The incandescent lamps are mounted in reflectors that can be adjusted so that their beams will overlap in the field. In the event of power outage or failure of the mains, power is supplied to the lamps from a battery-supported substitute source. The incandescent lamps, due to their thermal inertia, continue to burn almost uninterruptedly, whereas the discharge lamp remains off long enough to cool-down before being restarted. The advantages are less heat during normal operation and immediate availability of the incandescent lamps in an emergency.
