    Abstract: Tetraphenylborates are obtained in an industrially advantageous grade by spray drying an organic, aqueous or organic-aqueous extract of the tetraphenylborates obtainable in the tetraphenylborates synthesis. It is advantageous to treat the specified extract prior to spray drying with pH-controlling auxiliaries and adsorbents to remove byproducts or to limit their formation. The process gives tetraphenylborates in a homogeneous technical grade, i.e. in a narrow particle size distribution and in a particular particle shape, which improves the dispersibility in the medium to be used.

    Abstract: Polymer ammonium borates having a molecular weight from about 5000 to about 500,000 and obtained by homopolymerization of monomers, such as, for example, diallyldialkylammonium chloride, and by copolymerization of mixtures of two monomers, such as, for example, diallyldimethylammonium chloride and diallylmethyloctylammonium chloride, having molar monomer ratios of about 0.5:0.5 to about 0.95:0.05 in the copolymer, followed, if desired, by anion exchange, and mixtures of these compounds. Polymer ammonium borates according to the invention are suitable as colorless charge-control agents in toners and developers for electrophotographic recording processes and as charge-improving agents in powders and coatings for surface coating.

    Abstract: The invention relates to biscationic acid amide and acid imide derivatives with an anion of formula (BR.sub.9 R.sub.10 R.sub.11 R.sub.12)--, where R.sub.9 to R.sub.12 are aliphatic, iso- or heterocyclic aromatic residues or aralkyl residues, which may be substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl residues, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy residues, aryl residues or halogen atoms (e.g. fluorine atoms), and mixtures of these compounds and mixed crystals with mixed anions and/or cations. The invention also relates to a process for preparing them. The new compounds are excellent colorless charge controllers in toners and developers for electrophotographic recording and as charge-enhancers in powders and paints for surface coating, in particular in triboelectrically or electrokinetically sprayed powder paints.
