  • Patent number: 6241177
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn at a constant winding speed to a package on a rotating tube. The tube is mounted on a driven winding spindle. Before the winding cycle, a yarn guide moves the yarn from a threading position to a transfer range for transferring it to the yarn traversing device. In so doing, a transfer tail wind is produced on the tube outside of the traverse range. In accordance with the invention, the speed of the yarn guide is controlled as a function of the winding speed such that a certain number of winds are deposited on the tube for producing the transfer tail wind.

  • Patent number: 6070827
Abstract: A yarn winding machine for winding a continuously advancing yarn to a package, wherein the package is wound on a tube mounted on one of two winding spindles. The winding spindles are mounted in cantilever fashion for rotation on a spindle turret. To be able to perform a yarn transfer from a full package mounted on one of the winding spindles to an empty tube mounted on the other winding spindle by rotating the spindle turret, the winding machine includes a yarn transfer device, which is rotated from an idle position to a deflecting position. The deflecting position is defined by a stop arranged on the spindle turret, so that during the rotation of the spindle turret the deflecting position is varied according to the rotation of the spindle turret.

  • Patent number: 6053449
Abstract: A yarn winding apparatus for winding each of a plurality of continuously advancing yarns to a package. The packages are wound on a winding spindle rotatably mounted in cantilever fashion on a movable spindle support. A stationary holding device is provided which is adapted for engaging the free end of the winding spindle without impeding the rotation of the winding spindle, so as to support the winding spindle at its free end with a holding force during the winding of the packages. Also, the winding spindle and the holding device can be joined to each other by two coupling elements without impeding the movement of the winding spindle which occurs during the winding operation to accommodate the build of the package.

  • Patent number: 6027064
Abstract: A yarn winding machine and a method of winding a continuously advancing yarn to a package. In this process, a rotary blade type traversing apparatus reciprocates the yarn by oppositely driven rotary blades along a curved guiding edge transversely to the direction of yarn advance. The shape of the guiding edge determines the position of the yarn respectively on the guiding rotary blade, so that the yarn is displaced on the package at a predetermined traversing speed. In accordance with the invention, the configuration or shape of the guiding edge can be varied during the winding, so that the traversing speed is decreased or increased.

  • Patent number: 6027061
Abstract: A yarn winding machine for winding an advancing yarn to form a yarn package which is formed on a driven winding spindle that is mounted in a projecting manner on a rotatable revolver. The package is engaged on its circumference by a pressure roll which exerts an abutment force on its surface. The winding spindle is supported on a mobile carrier which is mounted on the revolver. During the build of the package, the axial spacing between the package and the pressure roll is changed as a result of an evasive movement, it being possible for the evasive movement to be accomplished in several stages by the movement of the carrier while the revolver is fixed, or by the rotation of the revolver while the carrier is fixed, and so that the abutment force exerted by the pressure roll can be changed.

  • Patent number: 5928579
Abstract: An apparatus and method for melt spinning a plurality of downwardly advancing multifilament polymeric yarns, and winding the advancing yarns into respective packages. Each of the advancing yarns is brought into contact with a separate yarn delivery mechanism which acts to control the yarn tension before the yarn is wound into a package. Thus, the yarn tension of all of the yarns can be made substantially the same when they are wound into packages, which permits all of the packages to have the same winding structure and the same packing density.

  • Patent number: 5816513
Abstract: A yarn takeup apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn into yarn packages and which has a rotatable winding turret which supports for rotation two winding spindles. By the rotation of the winding turret, the winding spindles are moved alternately to a winding range and a doffing range. To this end, the winding spindles are mounted on the winding turret such that the spindles are movable relative to the winding turret respectively between a radially outer position and a radially inner position by a moveable spindle mount. At the beginning of the winding operation, the winding spindles are in the outer position, and during the build of the package, an evasive movement of the winding spindle is performed by movement of its mount and/or rotation of the winding turret.

  • Patent number: 5621637
Abstract: A method of controlling the quality during the production of a plurality of yarns in a corresponding number of identical processing stations (4, 5, 5') is disclosed. This method allows at least one signal (10, 10', 10") to be detected simultaneously and continuously in all processing stations (4, 5, 5') of such a production line, as well as to acquire at least one additional signal (7, 8, 9, 11) in one or more processing stations (4), the so-called reference stations. By correlating all signals acquired in these reference stations, the result of the correlation is evaluated based on the knowledge of possibly existing interdependencies, with respect to one or more typical properties of the furnished product. It is possible to determine therefrom set values for the further influencing of the process in the reference station as well as to obtain indications of the quality of the product.

  • Patent number: 5577676
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the traversing frequency during the winding of a cross-wound package. In so doing, a signal is detected which is generated by the motion of the yarn while being wound onto a yarn package. Thereafter, the signal is analyzed by frequency, and/or amplitude, or other characteristics. Finally, the traversing frequency of the yarn takeup system is adjusted or varied as a function of the analysis result. In the preferred embodiment, the signal is proportional to a development of airborne sound or a development of solid-borne sound, each of which is generated in response to the motion of the advancing yarn on the package being formed. The method of the present invention allows disturbances in the winding operation to be avoided, such as the formation of so-called ribbons and similar phenomena.

  • Patent number: 5248111
Abstract: A yarn winding bobbin is disclosed which includes a tubular wall composed of wound paper layers, and a yarn catching slot positioned adjacent one end of the tubular wall. The slot includes an inlet portion and a clamping portion, and the inlet portion includes an opening which extends completely through the wall. A yarn trap is formed in the opening for engaging a yarn which is positioned to move in the direction of rotation of the bobbin. The yarn trap is configured in such a manner that in the event of a suddenly occurring force exerted on the yarn, the yarn trap will not be destroyed. This is accomplished in that the yarn trap includes a yarn engaging edge which extends through the entire thickness of the wall of the bobbin, so that the yarn engages the entire thickness and not the individual paper layers.
