  • Publication number: 20150072080
Abstract: The invention relates to polymerizates that can be obtained by a) reacting at least one polyisocyanate with at least one polyol and optionally at least one radically curable monomer A with groups reactive toward isocyanate in at least one radically curable monomer B to form polyurethane particles having an average diameter of less than 40 nm, preferably less than 20 nm, and especially preferably less than 10 nm and an average number of radically curable functionalities in a range of 2 to 4, preferably 2 to 3, and b) emulsion polymerizing the product obtained under a). By means of the emulsion polymerization, larger cross-linked polyurethane/polymer hybrid dispersions are produced, in which the nanoparticles act as a connecting member between the polymer areas and the polyurethane components.

  • Publication number: 20140377828
Abstract: Described is a process for the conversion of halophytic plant biomass containing saline organic solids into biogas through anaerobic digestion. Operation of the process with saline (e.g., seawater) as liquid media under the method conditions taught leads to biological conversion of the organic matter into biogas. Additionally described is a method for pretreatment of the biomass under mild physicochemical conditions to increase the bioavailable fraction of the biomass for conversion.

  • Patent number: 8862017
Abstract: An acoustic cavity conditions the air flowing from a blower to reduce noise in the airflow. The air flowing directly out of the blower exhibits pulses produced by each impeller blade or fan blade. The airflow noise is thereby induced at certain frequencies. Printing operations inside a printer can also occur at specific frequencies. Introducing the airflow directly into certain areas of a printer can result in the noise frequencies and printing frequencies to combine and produce noticeable printing artifacts. An acoustic cavity tuned to dampen the airflow noise can condition the airflow and eradicate the printing artifacts.

  • Patent number: 8811173
Abstract: In one embodiment, a plurality of queues are established corresponding to each of a plurality mobiles, respectively. Data packets associated with the plurality of mobiles are received at a network element. Each received data packet is assigned to a corresponding one of the plurality of queues. A determination operation is performed on a selected one of the plurality of queues to determine whether or not to send one or more packets of each queue from the network gateway element. The determination operation is performed based on a comparison between a packet size of a head packet and an adaptive transmission threshold value associated with the selected queue. The adaptive transmission threshold value is a value that is changed based on an amount data sent from the selected queue. The head data packet being an earliest received data packet in the selected queue.

  • Patent number: 8679343
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method for the revaluation of aqueous waste streams generated in the propylene oxide and styrene co-production processes. In particular, it discloses a method of reducing the organic contaminant load from a highly contaminated aqueous stream and recovery from said stream of organic compounds that may be recirculated or used as fuel in the co-generation of energy, and which comprises: acidification of said aqueous stream with inorganic acid at a pH less than 4.5; separation of the two resulting phases at a temperature greater than 40° C.; washing of the organic phase produced in the previous step with an aqueous solution of excess acid and separation of the two resulting phases.

  • Patent number: 8544447
Abstract: One aspect is an electronic throttle control system including an electronic control unit configured to receive actuation signals indicative of a user action and to generate an actuation signal indicative of the user action. A throttle plate motor is configured to receive the actuation signal from the electronic control unit and to move a throttle plate in response thereto. A throttle position sensor is configured to sense the actual position of the throttle plate and to generate an actual position signal indicative of the throttle plate position. A throttle modifier is coupled between the throttle position sensor and the electronic control unit and configured to modify the actual position signal into a modified position signal, and to send the modified position signal to the electronic control unit.

  • Patent number: 8523892
Abstract: Instruments for use in minimally invasive carpal tunnel release include a cannula and a cutting member movable longitudinally within the cannula to advance a cutting blade of the cutting member along a longitudinal slot in the cannula to sever a transverse carpal ligament disposed over the slot. A dilating member is provided for creating a subligamentous space to accommodate the cannula and/or for removing adhered synovium from a lower surface of the ligament. A method for minimally invasive carpal tunnel release involves establishing a proximal entry into the carpal tunnel from an incision in the volar aspect of the forearm, introducing the cannula in the carpal tunnel via the incision, and severing the transverse carpal ligament from proximal to distal with the cutting blade of the cuffing member under direct endoscopic visualization.
