  • Publication number: 20090152409
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for vertically holding pipes, comprising a base element in the form of a cylinder segment and at least one door-type access element which is pivotally connected to the base element by means of at least one pivot joint. A closure (13) is arranged opposite the pivot joint. Said closure has a pivotable lock which engages, when locked, with a latch profile (15) behind a locking pin (16). A securing pin (24) and a securing plate (23) are arranged in the area of the pivotable lock. The securing plate, depending on the position, releases at least one recess for the securing pin or closes the same.

  • Patent number: 7296630
Abstract: A method and apparatus for raising or lowering a tubular in a well wherein bails are conventionally coupled to elevator ears and locking assemblies secured to the outer sides of the lower bail eyes for remote controlled clamping to nipples integral with and extending from the elevator ears. The locking assemblies contain upper and lower jaws which, by a remotely controlled actuator, move in linear relation to each other and have concave clamping surfaces which join together to form a circular opening for receiving the elevator ear nipples. The nipples have enlarged diameters at their distal ends to prevent removal from the closed jaws. A remotely controlled link spreading mechanism spreads the bails to accommodate an elevator. Elevator ears may contain internal conduits for communication of power and control signals between the suspended elevator and the bails. The passages mate with a remotely actuated connector assembly.

  • Patent number: 7216717
Abstract: A dual elevator system and method which, in one embodiment, includes two elevators and a table for supporting one or both of the elevators thereon, for shuttling an elevator between well center and offset standby positions, and for hands-free coupling and uncoupling power and control to an elevator on the table by remote actuation. Each elevator has a rear power and control connector and hitch which connect to complementary connectors and hitch located on a table shuttle mechanism by remote actuation. The table shuttle mechanism is driven by an actuator coupled between the shuttle mechanism and table frame which moves an elevator hitched to said shuttle mechanism between well center and standby positions.
