    Abstract: A composite sliding block to be arranged between two supporting plates of a frictional-type seismic isolator, with one supporting plate connected to the superstructure to be isolated and the other to the foundations, comprising two contact components that externally are slidingly or articulatedly in contact with said supporting plates, depending on whether the isolator has one or two sliding surfaces, and internally are coupled to each other by means of a male projection of one component in a female recess of the other. An elastomeric seal occupies an empty space surrounding the projection within the recess and, on the external side of the contact component(s) slidingly in contact with the supporting plate(s), a sliding plate is accommodated in a corresponding niche having an elastomeric compression support at the bottom. Frictional pendulum-type isolators with one or two concave sliding surfaces include such a block.

    Abstract: A self-centring and energy dissipating seismic isolation device of the elastomeric frictional-type for structures and industrial equipment comprises: first and second metal plates respectively joined, one to the structure or equipment and the other to its foundations, the first metal plate being fixed thereto and the second metal plate being rotatably joined thereto by a column; at least one elastomeric ring between the plates; and a central restrictive bar orthogonally joined to the first plate and extending through the elastomeric ring and through a central through-hole in the second plate, a nut being screwed to the free end of the bar and having a spherical curved-convex bottom in sliding contact and corresponding with a spherical curved-concave inner surface part of the central through-hole. An isolation system can comprise several of these devices and columns or just one pair of devices at the ends of a central column in combination with sliding support pillars.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a combination of a foundation anchor and energy damper for vertical tanks or similar containers for liquids with a thin wall and continuous support, comprising an energy dissipation component centrally connected to a foundation anchor component by means of a linking component, the energy dissipation component comprising one or more superimposed and horizontally arranged energy dissipating plates with a rhombic shape truncated at the vertices thereof, wherein the shorter diagonal is normal to the wall of the tank and the side ends or vertices corresponding to the longer diagonal have quadrangular extensions for support on a load transmission component that is connected to the wall of the tank so as to transmit and distribute the forces developed by the one or more energy dissipating plates. Alternatively, the energy dissipating plates are trapezoidal with the longer parallel side tangential to the wall of the tank.
