  • Patent number: 11339030
Abstract: A passenger moving installation includes a plurality of tread elements forming an endless conveyor belt, wherein the tread elements are at least partially covered by at least one element that limits a transportation height of a user set of the installation. A safety system is configured to detect a risk of collision between the user set and the covering element. A method of determining a risk of collision between a user set and at least one covering element in a passenger moving installation at least partially covered by the covering element, includes determining the height of the user set in a monitoring area via a safety system, comparing the height of the user set to the height of a safety threshold, and triggering an event in the safety system if the user height exceeds the safety threshold.

  • Patent number: 11254545
Abstract: A method predicts whether an approaching passenger intends to travel on a passenger moving system having at least one movable pallet. The method includes positioning at least one monitoring device in the vicinity of the passenger moving system such that it monitors a detection area wherein the detection area includes at least a first detection area. The monitoring system then detects the presence of a passenger in the at least first detection area and monitors a trajectory of the passenger. A response is triggered at a control unit of the passenger moving system when the monitored trajectory of the passenger provides a predicted trajectory that reaches the entrance to the passenger moving system.

  • Publication number: 20190225351
Abstract: A method for positioning a boarding bridge at an airplane includes taking a picture of the parked airplane. A row of two adjacent side window rings is detected in the picture, wherein the side window ring is an extraction of a side window. A door polygon adjacent to the row of side window rings is searched for and a relative position of the door is calculated. The position is compared to a position of a distal end of the passenger boarding bridge or a camera taking the picture and the passenger boarding bridge is moved automatically based on the calculated relative position.

  • Patent number: 9994427
Abstract: A safety chain for conveyor pallets may comprise bent links arranged in alternating fashion with straight links. Each of the bent links may have two ends with a wheel disposed at each end. Each consecutive bent link and straight link may be joined at an articulation point. The safety chain may also comprise arms extending from each articulation point, wherein a conveyor pallet may be coupled to each arm. Further, roller guides that follow a trajectory of the safety chain may be arranged on one of two sides of the safety chain. The roller guides may rotate the wheels of the bent links. The articulation points enable rotation and position change of the bent links and the straight links so as to increase or decrease a distance between consecutive conveyor pallets according to a change of speed of a conveyor.

  • Patent number: 8770374
Abstract: A braking system for escalators and moving walkways, includes a braking device (3) with a main brake (30) of the type which is released when there is no voltage in its electric activator, and an auxiliary brake (31) of the type which is closed when there is no voltage in its electric activator. A controller (1) controls the braking device (3), prepared for obtaining the load of the escalator or moving walkway, and calculates the braking torque required for each braking device (3) depending on the load and activating the braking device (3) for obtaining the corresponding torque while braking when a braking command is received. The auxiliary brake is activated (32) for taking the escalators or moving walkway to a safe position when there is a system failure.

  • Patent number: 7562758
Abstract: A safety device is provided for transport systems such as walkways and stairs that include moving elements (1, 2) with longitudinal movements and in which one of the moving elements (1, 2) may undergo tilting movements in relation to an operating direction. A safety counter-guide (7) is arranged on the moving elements (1, 2) and prevents the upward tilting of the moving elements (1, 2). The safety counter-guide also includes a lower sensor (8) in the form of a band that generates a stop signal for the system upon coming into contact with moving elements (1, 2). Since the moving elements (1, 2) cannot tilt in an upwards direction, possible risks both for the user and for the mechanical system are prevented.

  • Patent number: 7552812
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety device for moving handrails consisting of a stop (5), arranged at the entrance of the handrail (1) assembled on a fixed railing (3) finishing the handrail, the stop (5) being connected to a rod (7) which can move longitudinally and is retractable against a spring (9), the device comprising a hinged outer lid (15) having locking pawls (19) for an inner lid (18), such that the outer lid (15) automatically tends to the open position due to the effect of the springs (17) affecting the hinge (16) when the stop (5) is retracted and the lock (10) of the latter are released, whereas the inner lid (18), upon being released, also tends to the open position by simple gravity. In this way when a user does not let go of the handrail (1) when it penetrates the railing (3), he or she drives the stop (5) with his or her hand and the lids (15) and (18) are automatically opened, preventing injury to the hand of the user and causing the stop of the handrail through a microswitch (23).
