  • Patent number: 10215145
Abstract: According to one or more aspects, a dual controller area network (CAN) is used to start a vehicle. A dual CAN bus network includes a first CAN (CAN1) bus and a second CAN (CAN2) bus. A transmission control unit (TCU) is in communication with an engine control unit (ECU) via the dual CAN bus network. The ECU controls actuation of a starter motor based on signals from the CAN1 bus and signals from the CAN2 bus sent by the TCU. Actuation of the starter motor places an engine of the vehicle in a starting mode.

  • Patent number: 10130038
Abstract: A corn head row unit gearbox includes an input shaft, that rotates about a first axis of rotation and that drives a set of gears. The gears transfer rotation of the input shaft into rotation of a gathering chain output shaft about a second axis of rotation, generally transverse to the first axis of rotation. The gathering chain drive shaft rotates within a bushing mounted within a frame structure of the gearbox. A bushing seal has an annular mounting sleeve with an inner diameter that is press fit over a boss on the frame structure.

  • Publication number: 20180298523
Abstract: A method of molecular self-assembly is disclosed using two interacting streams that are allowed to interact and are subsequently forced through an orifice. A first stream of a dope solution of polymer molecules is extruded out of a capillary. The dope stream is surrounded by a focusing fluid which is miscible with the dope solution. The interaction between the jet of dope solution and surrounding focusing fluid creates hydrodynamic stretching and allows for extracting solvent from the dope solution. Concentrated polymers within the solution at stretched regions of the jet interact, and finally self-assembly takes place after the fluids are forced through the outlet of a converging nozzle. The formation of the structure can be optionally completed in a coagulating space. The structures thus obtained such as fibers or threads can be wound onto a mandrel.

  • Publication number: 20180237681
Abstract: Drilling fluids having improved rheology under downhole temperature and pressure. The improved rheology (IR) drilling fluids are particularly suited for use in deepwater drilling operations. The IR drilling fluids are invert emulsion fluids with viscosifier to rheology modifier weight ratios between about 6 and about 14. The IR drilling fluids exhibit low shear yield point variance and/or yield point variance of below 60 percent based on high-temperature, high-pressure viscometer measurements.

Abstract: An electrical machine (1) comprises a rotor (20), a stator (10), a rotor power supply (50), at least one sensor (70) and a rotor magnetization control arrangement (60). The rotor has rotor windings (22) for controlling magnetization of rotor magnetic poles (24). The sensor is arranged to measure a parameter associated with a relative force between the stator and the rotor. The rotor magnetization control arrangement is communicationally connected to the sensor for receiving a signal representing the measured parameter. The rotor magnetic poles are divided into at least two groups (23). The rotor magnetization control arrangement is arranged for controlling the magnetization of the groups individually by providing a respective individually controllable rotor current. The rotor magnetization control arrangement is arranged to individually control the rotor currents in dependence of the signal representing the measured parameter. A method for controlling such an electrical machine is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9785774
Abstract: A method and apparatus for scanning for or removing malware from a computer device. Under normal circumstances, the computer device is controlled by a first operating system installed in a memory of the device. In order to scan for or remove the malware from the computer device, control of the computer device is passed from the first operating system to a second operating system and, under the control of the second operating system, the device is either scanned for malware or the malware is removed. This allows malware to be detected or removed, even if it has affected the first operating system in some way in order to evade detection or removal.

  • Publication number: 20170110114
Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically mapping English phonemes to graphemes to support better reading and spelling instruction may include a mapping process for systematically dividing text words into graphemes made up of one or more text characters corresponding to appropriately identified phonemes (which may be represented by one or more phonetic characters). The process may also include automatically correlating each phoneme of a word with a grapheme representing the phoneme in order to produce a phoneme-to-grapheme map that may be optimized for educational use. Some embodiments may include a teaching process for presenting the results of the mapping process to students.

  • Publication number: 20160227712
Abstract: A Pyramidal shaped nursery pot that provides improvement in pot stability against wind blow over, improves root development through air root pruning and grooves to guide the roots downward, and reduces weeding effort, without negatively impacting space utilization and water consumption. The pot is made of a semi-rigid, preferably biodegradable material, is delivered flat, and has a self closing mechanism to keep the sides joined when it is assembled. The pot has a plurality of triangular apertures cut on the vertical sides that fold outwards as a flange, with the objective of the opening created by these to facilitate drainage of excess liquid from the pot and the passage of air to the growing media to enhance root development through air-pruning, and the flange formed and folded outwards with an angle towards the inside of the pot to serve as a water capture mechanism when aerial irrigation occurs.

  • Patent number: 9285136
Abstract: A filter assembly is adapted for separating particulate matter entrained in a moving fluid stream. The filter assembly comprises a flow-through three dimensional filter frame including a plurality of joined side walls, and having first and second opposing open faces. The first open face defines a fluid inlet into which the moving fluid stream is drawn, and the second open face defines a fluid outlet from which the moving fluid stream passes. At least one of the joined side walls is inwardly angled from the first open face to the second open face, such that the fluid outlet is smaller than the fluid inlet. A filtration medium is supported within the filter frame, and extends between the joined side walls and from the first open face to the second open face.
