  • Patent number: 5007707
Abstract: An array of sound transducers where sound producing groups made up of one or more of the sound transducers may be separately driven so as to spatially reproduce a live performance. Flat sound transducers having sound producing diaphragms with a reflective surface may be employed so that the collective flat sound transducers may provide an image projection surface. The sound producing groups in the array of sound transducers may also be controlled so that the audio tracks the video or the location of a live performer.

  • Patent number: 4997058
Abstract: An improved flat sound transducer including a planar diaphragm having at least one region suited for reproduction of low frequencies and one region suited for reproduction of high frequencies wherein the frame of the flat sound transducer is used to sandwich a foam strip between the frame and the diaphragm in order to dampen low frequency vibrations and substantially isolate the high frequency region from the large amplitude low frequency vibrations while still allowing high frequency vibrations to emanate from the entire sound transducer diaphragm. The dampening strip may used with either a metallic frame or with a unitary plastic frame. A high frequency enhancement coating may be used to increase the frequency response in the high frequency region of the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 4257325
Abstract: Mounting of a substantially planar diaphragm defining a sound transducer, having a central portion surrounded by stepwise interconnected outer plates to assure correctly guided vibratory movement of the central portion. Recesses in the central portion opening into the front face thereof, housing and supporting therein tweeters, the sound emission axes of which may be so oriented that they converge towards the rear face of the central portion.

  • Patent number: 4184563
Abstract: A substantially planar diaphragm and supporting frame assembly, preferably for loudspeakers, where on the rear face side of said diaphragm there is an asymmetrically shaped sound producing portion defining the central portion of said diaphragm, which central portion is surrounded by a marginal portion including spaced-apart teeth-like projections which define the periphery of said marginal portion and an endless channel in said marginal portion between said teeth-like projections and said central portion, a resilient cushion-like damping washer having two opposite faces one of which is linked to said teeth-like projections and the other face being linked to said supporting frame, and said washer having blind cuts on said other face, at least in those portions which are located in-between said spaced-apart teeth-like projections.
