  • Patent number: 11808321
Abstract: An apparatus for correcting an imbalance in a rotating shaft along with a method for correcting the imbalance in a rotating shaft is identified. The apparatus includes a joint assembly having a first joint member that is drivingly connected to a second joint member by one or more third joint members. At least a portion of a first shaft may be drivingly connected to at least a portion of the first joint member and at least a portion of a second shaft may be drivingly connected to at least a portion of a second end portion of the second join member. A boot can may be connected to at least a portion of a first end portion of the second joint member. One or more balancing elements may then be connected to at least a portion of the boot can and/or the second joint member of the joint assembly.

  • Publication number: 20120202606
Abstract: A constant velocity joint for a drive system comprises: a tripod housing coupled to the first rotating shaft and having a plurality of guide grooves therein, each guide groove extending in an axial direction of the tripod housing; a spider coupled to the second rotating shaft and having a plurality of trunnions, each trunnion positioned in a corresponding guide groove of the tripod housing; and a spherical roller disposed between the trunnion and the guide groove of the tripod housing, and a plurality of needle rollers disposed between the trunnion and spherical roller. Each spherical roller is in angular contact with the guide groove of the tripod housing with two contact points displaced relative to a pitch circle diameter line of the tripod housing. The ratio of the length (CL) between two contact points of tripod housing groove to the length (SL) between two edges of spherical roller is between 0.5 and 0.

  • Patent number: 7018299
Abstract: A slip joint includes a slip shaft having a plurality of axially extending grooves, and a slip yoke having a plurality of axially extending grooves. The slip yoke is in telescoping engagement with the slip shaft, and the grooves formed in the slip shaft are circumferentially aligned with the grooves formed in the slip yoke. A plurality of torque transmitting balls is disposed in the grooves. A helically shaped cage is positioned radially between the slip shaft and the slip yoke. The cage secures the balls to maintain the balls spaced apart from one another and within the grooves.
