  • Publication number: 20230160353
Abstract: A device comprises: an injector for injecting fuel into an engine combustion chamber, a switch formed by an injector housing and an injector nozzle needle and which changes its switching state depending on a closed or open state of the injector, an input line for supplying energy to an actuating element which adjusts the nozzle needle in its two states, an output line for conducting energy away from the actuating element, and an evaluation unit for detecting the switching state of the switch, wherein a first switch contact of the switch is connected to an electrical input line of the injector, a second switch contact of the switch is connected to ground, and the evaluation unit is configured to carry out a signal measurementon the input line and/or an output line to conclude a switch state.

  • Patent number: 11215134
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of operating an internal combustion engine comprising a controllable injector for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber, the injector communicating with a fuel accumulator through which it is supplied with fuel, the method comprising the following steps: determining a first pressure value of the pressure in the fuel accumulator on the basis of a first pressure measurement, determining a second pressure value of the pressure in the fuel accumulator on the basis of a second pressure measurement carried out after the first pressure measurement, and determining an injector opening duration depending on the first and the second pressure value.

  • Patent number: 8046157
Abstract: A control system (and a method of operating the system for an internal combustion engine. The control system has a trigger circuit for supplying trigger signals and an output stage having a plurality of output channels which supply actuating signals. The trigger circuit and the output stage are connected to one another by a selection interface and a trigger interface that is a single control line which supplies a time control signal.

  • Patent number: 7589656
Abstract: Synchronization of the angle position of the crankshaft of a motor vehicle with the internal clock of a engine control device is often imprecise and complicated and is often fraught with difficulties, particularly with regard to the detection and processing of external sensor signals. The invention relates to a engine control device wherein the angle position of the crankshaft is initially detected and converted into an electronic trigger signal in a trigger converter. The electronic trigger signal controls the detection and the analog-to-digital conversion of an analog signal, particularly an analog sensor signal. Control occurs in such a way that data can only be detected when a specific trigger signal is present or that data can only be continuously detected and processed when a specific trigger signal is present.

  • Patent number: 7271558
Abstract: In rotating systems with angular references, angular- and/or time-based pulses must be generated which can be described in a generic manner to meet various requirements. The parameters for definition of the pulse are assigned as a value pair to permit more flexibility on definition of a pulse for generation, one value of which defines the type of the parameter, in other words, whether an angle, a time, or some other parameter is being defined. A calculation device can correctly assign the size value of the parameter using the additional value, interpret and carry out suitable subroutines to calculate the control values for controlling the relevant pulse generation circuits.

  • Publication number: 20060255302
Abstract: In an adjustment method and an adjustment device for an actuator of a valve, in particular for a piezoelectric actuator of an injection valve for an internal combustion engine, wherein the actuator is charged to various charge states, following a given control procedure, which each correspond to a position of the valve. The control procedure is regulated in dependence on a regulation parameter. The regulation parameter describes the charge state of the actuator and/or the valve position and, in addition, an external measured parameter, namely the pressure on the valve.
