  • Patent number: 6234106
Abstract: A position indicator for a motor drive for actuating a step switch, tap changer, or dipping coil, has a display board having front and back faces and a first circular array of symbols on the front face corresponding to individual switching phases traversed during changeover of the motor drive from one operational position into another neighboring operational position. A first shaft extending through the board centrally of the first array and defining a first axis carries a pointer at the front face rotatable about the first axis through positions aligned with the symbols. A second circular array of symbols on the front face is associated with individual possible stationary operational positions of the step switch, the tap changer, or the dipping coil. A second pointer shaft projecting through the board centrally of the second array and defining a second axis carries a second pointer at the front face rotatable about the second axis through positions aligned with the symbols of the second array.

  • Patent number: 6087607
Abstract: The invention relate to a position signaling layout for a motor drive which also serves to activate an on-load tap changer, an off-circuit tap changer or a plunger core coil. Position signaling devices of this kind detect the position at a given time of the on-load tap changer or similar and transmit this information in the form of an electric signal. According to the invention, the device consists essentially of a board on which there are fixed signaling contacts and a pivoted cam disc which connects said fixed contacts electrically and links them to a terminal lead via a spring operated switch, activating the spring operated switch by means of its front cam contour.

  • Patent number: 5834717
Abstract: An on-load tap changer of a step switch has a force-storage unit which has a charging slide continuously movable by a bidirectionally rotatable drive shaft and an output part that when tripped suddenly follows the movement of the charging slide and rotates a switching shaft. Respective switches for each phase are each actuatable by respective actuating elements that coact with edges of respective concentric cams rotatable by the switching shaft. An axially movable switching unit is mounted on the switching shaft and the switching unit carries cam disks for actuating the switches, each cam disk being subdivided into an upper and a lower subdisk with different shapes. The switching unit is movable in a direction dependent on the rotation direction of the drive shaft into an upper or a lower position.

  • Patent number: 5786552
Abstract: The invention concerns a switching arrangement for load change-over switches of step switches and for selector switches, wherein two switching contacts movable in two directions are present. The first switching contact is in the form of a main switching contact and is connected to the load derivation by means of a first vacuum switchgear cell. The second switching contact is in the form of a resistance switching contact which is likewise connected to the load derivation by means of a series connection comprising a second vacuum switchgear cell and a transition resistor. Both the main and the resistance switching contacts can be moved independently of one another and without mutual coupling or influence. The main switching contact always reaches the new fixed contact abruptly and independently of the switching direction before the resistance switching contact leaves the previous fixed contact.

  • Patent number: 5523674
Abstract: The invention relates to a load selector for step switches in step transformers with two movable selector contacts. A suitable vacuum switch is located downstream of the first movable selector contact to switch the load current and a suitable switch for switching the compensation current is located downstream of the second movable selector contact. Both of the selector contacts are independently movable in such a way that one of the selector contacts moves slowly and the other selector contact rapidly moves or jumps between positions. The sequence of operation of the selector contacts is independent of the switching direction.

  • Patent number: 5516992
Abstract: A cast-resin transformer has a transformer housing, a plurality of windings each having a plurality of taps, respective contacts connected to the taps and mounted on the housing in respective arrays which are all identical, and respective identical mounting elements on the housing at each of the contact arrays. Respective identical step switches each serve a respective winding of the transformer and each have a switch housing secured to the respective mounting element of the transformer housing at the respective contact array and a step contact movable along the respective connector elements and electrically engageable therewith. A drive motor and a main shaft are connected to all of the step contacts for synchronously stepping the step contacts along the respective connector elements.

  • Patent number: 5337550
Abstract: A method of stopping a spool which is driven by a continuously rotating spool roller on an open-end spinning machine. The spool is lifted off the spool roller and a braking roller is placed on the peripheral surface of the spool, after which the braking roller is braked to a stop. In this case, the roller is driven substantially at the peripheral speed of the spool roller before being placed on the spool. In order to perform the method, the braking roller has associated with it a braking device which is connected for control purposes to a spool-changing device. The braking device is constructed as a direct-current machine with a resetter.

  • Patent number: 5330115
Abstract: In order to form parallel windings in the longitudinal end region of the empty tube, a drive roller, which is driven at a peripheral speed adapted to the constant thread withdrawal speed provided for the subsequent formation of the crosswinding, is placed onto the peripheral surface of the empty tube, which has been lifted from the winding cylinder, and the thread, which is delivered at a constant speed, is passed to the then driven empty tube. After formation of the reserve winding, the empty tube is lowered onto the winding cylinder. The thread is displaced towards the middle of the bobbin and, by way of adaptation to the shortening of the thread run occasioned thereby and to a change in diameter possibly then brought into effect, the peripheral speed of the drive roller is altered to maintain a constant thread wind-on tension. The thread is passed to the cross-winding device, and the drive roller is lifted from the empty tube.

  • Patent number: 5266759
Abstract: An actuator used with a load switch having a rotary drive shaft extending along a drive axis and carrying a cam and with an interrupter having an operating rod displaceable longitudinally of itself and generally perpendicular to the drive axis has a frame defining upper and lower pivots having respective upper and lower axes spaced from each other and generally parallel to the drive axis. An output parallelogrammatic linkage has an output link having upper and lower ends, movable between an upper and a lower position, and formed with an aperture alignable axially with the input-link aperture and an output coupling formation connected longitudinally on the rod so that on movement between the upper and lower positions the interrupter is operated. An input parallelogrammatic linkage has an input link formed with an aperture and an input coupling formation bearing radially on the cam so that rotation of the cam vertically displaces the input link between its upper and lower positions.

  • Patent number: 5107200
Abstract: A switching system for a step transformer having at least two adjacent taps and a pair of terminals shiftable between the taps has a pair of fixed contacts normally connected to the terminals, a vacuum interrupter connected between the terminals and displaceable between an open-circuit position and a closed-circuit position, a pair of movable contacts each engageable with a respective one of the fixed contacts and forming therewith a respective bypass switch, and a cam rotatable about a cam axis and having a contact face and an axially oppositely facing interrupter face each formed with a respective operating formation. A drive rotates the cam about its axis through steps of a half revolution. A respective cam follower engaged between each of the movable contacts and the contact-face formation opens and closes one of the bypass switches on rotation of the cam through a half revolution and thereafter opens and closes the other of the bypass switches on rotation of the cam through a succeeding half revolution.
