Publication number: 20140080443Abstract: A system and method of authorizing and monetizing a telephone communication such as a voice call is disclosed. The calling party may be in a controlled environment such as a prison or hospital; the called party is using a mobile telephone device. The call is facilitated by a service provider such as a connect service provider. The call is monetized by a message service charge billed to an account associated with the mobile telephone device. The call is facilitated as a voice call if there is authorization both for a charge for message service to the mobile telephone device and for the call from the calling party. The system is implemented with a system may use a message service communication protocol for the message and billing charge. computer-based system in operation with the interactive voice response system. Revenue from monetization of the call may be shared between service providers.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2013Publication date: March 20, 2014Applicant: Securus Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark R. Smith, Jeremy R. Martin, Michael J. FitzGibbon, Matthew Joseph Simons, John L. Duffy

Patent number: 8626118Abstract: The collect cellular call identifies the cellular telephone carrier and called party cell phone. After determining whether the carrier and phone accept message service charges (SMS), a voice response module seeks positive authorization from the called party with the telephone. If positive, the system facilitates a connection between the calling party and the called party and initiates a predetermined billing charge assigned to the cellular telephone number. If the carrier or the cell phone is not enabled or if no authorization is obtained from the called party, the system facilitates a denial of completion signal. A timer monitors the length of the collect cellular call. Databases are accessed to locate the carrier and called cell phone number approved list of numbers and deny service list of numbers.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2012Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Securus Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark R. Patent number: 8560325Abstract: Improved techniques are disclosed for permitting a user to employ more human-based grammar (i.e., free form or conversational input) while addressing a target system via a voice system. For example, a technique for determining intent associated with a spoken utterance of a user comprises the following steps/operations. Decoded speech uttered by the user is obtained. An intent is then extracted from the decoded speech uttered by the user. The intent is extracted in an iterative manner such that a first class is determined after a first iteration and a sub-class of the first class is determined after a second iteration. The first class and the sub-class of the first class are hierarchically indicative of the intent of the user, e.g., a target and data that may be associated with the target.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2012Date of Patent: October 15, 2013Assignee: Nuance Communications, Inc.Inventors: Dimitri Kanevsky, Joseph Simon Reisinger, Roberto Sicconi, Mahesh Viswanathan

Publication number: 20100304920Abstract: An improved hybrid powertrain incorporating a flywheel which provides a mechanical power path and an electrical power path wherein the flywheel can be accelerated or decelerated with or without generating a torque on the output shaft. The design is not only suitable for high energy flywheels, but also for low energy flywheels sized to handle transient power requirements (acceleration and deceleration), thus lowering the power requirement for the prime energy source. As such, the system is ideal for electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, and series hybrid vehicles as the prime power source is fractionally sized.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 28, 2009Publication date: December 2, 2010Inventor: Bernard Joseph Simon

Publication number: 20100263060Abstract: A method and system for generating trusted security labels in electronic documents is disclosed. The method comprises determining parts of the document to be cryptographically bound to the security label and hashing them; hashing the security label; specifying any necessary policies as signable signature properties; and digitally signing the collection of these items. The resulting security label is trusted, because it is digitally signed and its digital signature also covers the parts of the document to be protected, thus allowing any tampering of the security label or the covered parts of the document to be detectable. A corresponding system for generating trusted security labels is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2010Publication date: October 14, 2010Inventors: Stephane Roger Daniel Joseph Charbonneau, Edward Joseph Simon

Patent number: 7731123Abstract: A contra-bevel driven control mechanism repositions a control surface in a fluid environment such as an aerodynamic or hydrodynamic environment. This involves mechanically coupling an airfoil and a control surface. The control surface may pivot about a spanwise axis between upwardly deflected and downwardly deflected positions. A forward beveled rotor mounted to the airfoil and an aft beveled rotor mounted to the control surface counter rotate. The forward beveled rotor rotates about a forward chordwise axis within the airfoil while the aft beveled rotor rotates about an aft chordwise axis within the control surface. The angular rotation between the forward beveled rotor and the aft beveled rotor deflects the aft beveled rotor and the aft chordwise axis within the control surface. Additionally, this method allows the control surface to be deflected with maximum mechanical advantage when the control surface is fully deflected.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2006Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Kendall G. Patent number: 7334312Abstract: A method for forming a variable wall thickness axle or tube with internally thickened wall sections comprises extruding a tubular metal blank within an elongated die. An elongated punch pushes the blank through the die. The punch has an end abutting and pushing the blank into and through the die and an elongated portion which is spaced from the interior wall surface of the die. Movement of the punch in pushing the blank causes the blank to partially extrude forwardly through the die until stopped and then to extrude rearwardly around the punch elongated portion through the space for forming a tube. A tubular ring is then inserted within the extruded tube at a pre-determined location and is fixed in place to provide a thick, combined tube wall and ring wall, section which extends radially inwardly of the tube. A number of spaced-apart rings may be used to provide spaced-apart thickened wall sections within the tube.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2005Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: U.S. Manufacturing CorporationInventors: Dennis Bucholtz, Earl Barker, Joseph A Simon, Jr.
