Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods related to reducing or making more efficient handovers from one cell to another cell in a communications network. The method includes receiving mobility data for a device being serviced by a first cell, classifying the device based on the mobility data to yield a classification and making a handoff decision when handing off the device from the first cell to a second cell based at least in part on the classification. An example of the mobility data is a speed at which the device is moving.

The input can be speech. The user identity can be verified by network-based speaker recognition. The method can further automatically update the user profile based on user actions. The account of the user, associated with the wireless device, is charged for the usage of the roadway based on the detected information through the wireless device. Road services, such as directions, road conditions, weather forecast and traffic status may also be provided interactively through the wireless device while the vehicle is on the roadway.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing fully readable email and attachments where senders and receivers are connected by less than fully compatible email providers or have less than fully compatible software. For example, where a sender employs word processing or graphics software not employed by the intended recipient, a network service provider downloads a loaner or loaners to the recipient so that the recipient can fully read or utilize the email and attachments. Preferably, the loaner or loaners are destroyed once the email and attachments have received. Alternatively, rather than downloading a loaner, access to a web site may be provided to the recipient who can download a fully utilizable copy of the email and attachments by facsimile, for example. In either case, senders and receivers no longer need to have the same software programs to fully communicate utilizing email.

Data records at the MSC are modified to reflect the parent and extension cellular telephones configuration. Incoming calls are delivered to all telephones sharing a MIN simultaneously, sequentially, or in accordance with a caller's selection. An extension wireless telephone may interrupt a call in progress of another extension wireless telephone. Cellular telephones sharing a MIN may call each other using intercom extension numbers.

Abstract: A communications system is designed to allow a call waiting subscriber who is already busy on a first call to receive information associated with a message being recorded by a second caller attempting to reach the subscriber. According to one aspect of the principles disclosed herein, a one-way conference call is established between the second caller and the subscriber as the message is being recorded to allow the subscriber to eavesdrop on the message. According to another aspect of the principles disclosed herein, an Automatic Speech Recognition system may transcribe the message being recorded into ASCII coded data that is delivered to the called party. The received message allows the subscriber to effectively assess whether the first call in progress should be interrupted to answer the second call in waiting.
