  • Patent number: 5273512
Abstract: An improved mill feeder roll to be used in combination with another roll for froce-feeding a mill of the type generally employed for grinding a material such as sugar cane and the like while contributing in pre-extracting and draining juice therefrom includes a fabricated hollow shell body mounted on a shaft with a drainage system in the form of a plurality of manifolds provided within the shell body and through which is drained a portion of the pre-extracted juice thereby leaving a drier material to be force-fed into the mill by the rotating action of the rolls.

  • Patent number: 4496104
Abstract: A sprinkling device includes a casing provided with control means and carrying internally two turbine wheels with a propeller and deflector and externally a rotary union for mounting onto a source of fluidic material under pressure and a nozzle which during operation can be made to move around in a plane between any two points and in either direction automatically while simultaneously discharging forwardly a stream of the fluidic material back and forth.

  • Patent number: 4403743
Abstract: An articulated knife rotor assembly in a machine for reducing materials includes a shaft rotated about the longitudinal axis thereof. A plurality of blade holders are rigidly fixed to the shaft for rotation therewith. Each blade holder extends from the shaft generally radially with respect to the axis of the shaft. Each blade holder has mounted therein for relative rotation with respect thereto about an axis of rotation at least one block member. Each block member has fixed thereto at least one knife blade. Rotation of the shaft causes rotation of the blade holders, the block members and the knife blades. However, each knife blade is pivotable with respect to the respective blade holder about the axis of rotation of the respective block member.

  • Patent number: 4391026
Abstract: A mill roll includes a roll body, a plurality of circumferentially extending grooves formed in the periphery of the roll body, a plurality of channels extending axially through the roll body at positions inwardly of the grooves, a plurality of inserts fitted within the roll body at the radial bottoms of the grooves, and each insert having extending substantially radially therethrough an opening connecting the respective groove with a respective channel. Each opening has an elongated, substantially rectangular circumferential cross-section with a longer dimension extending substantially circumferentially of the roll body and a narrower dimension extending axially of the roll body.

  • Patent number: 4338201
Abstract: A method of separating solids and liquid material in a slurry. The solids are continuously purged, washed, dried and removed with a minimum amount of mechanical handling. The slurry is continuously deposited on a moving horizontal rotary screen and condensible vapor is introduced above the layer while the pressure is reduced below the layer. Liquid is withdrawn from underneath the slurry layer with the vapor passing through the layer becoming superheated upon passage to evaporate further liquid from the solids. A stream of gas, which may be the same condensible vapor, is directed at the solids to entrain them and remove them from the screen.

  • Patent number: 4303522
Abstract: A continuous separation system intended for the recovery of solids and/or liquid contained in slurries comprises an enclosed low speed rotary screen assembly mounted between a stationary casing under vacuum and a cover provided with a fixed scraper and into which circulates dry hot air. The arrangement is such that during operation a slurry is admitted on top of the rotating screen on one side of the scraper while liquid is recovered by suction into the casing leaving the solids which are washed and then dried before being scraped off and eventually removed on the other side of the scraper. The recovered liquid is automatically degasified into the casing before being pumped out therefrom. Throughput can be varied either by adjustment of the amount of material being fed into the system, or by varying the speed of rotation of the screen assembly, or both. Provision is made for cleaning the screen during operation.

  • Patent number: 4256582
Abstract: A continuous separation system which continuously purges, washes, dries, and removes solids with a minimum amount of mechanical handling and consequential crystal breakage. A separator within the continuous separation system of the present invention comprises a stationary casing, a horizontal rotary screen within the casing, a fixed scraper mounted in the casing above the screen, an inlet conduit on one side of the scraper for depositing slurry on the screen to form a layer as the screen rotates, an outlet conduit on the other side of the scraper for carrying away dried solids, and gas nozzles for directing a gas stream at the solids as they encounter the scraper, entraining them, and directing them through the outlet conduit. The screen divides the casing interior into respective upper and lower chambers that are sealed from one another except through the screen. In operation, the gas stream carries the entrained solids to a separate receiver.

  • Patent number: 4133375
Abstract: A cylindrical shell has a conical bottom with a central outlet therein. A hollow central shaft is rotatably and vertically supported within the center of the shell and has attached thereto at least one heat exchange element including lower and upper radial tubes. Hollow rectangular ducts extend vertically between the upper and lower radial tubes. Heat exchange fluid flows from the upper end of the shaft, radially outwardly through the lower radial tubes, upwardly through the rectangular ducts, radially inwardly through the upper radial tubes, and to the upper end of the shaft.
