  • Patent number: 6079418
Abstract: A substantially pure Vitamin E type compound is added to tobacco for a smokeable or smokeless tobacco product to achieve less irritation and antioxidant benefits. In a preferred embodiment, a substantially pure "dry" powdered ester analog of Vitamin E, such as Vitamin E acid succinate or spray dried Vitamin E acetate, is mixed directly with the tobacco during the manufacturing process. These Vitamin E analogs can also be inserted into a cigarette filter, holder and/or paper, either in powdered form or in microencapsulated form. Although not preferred, a common oily form of Vitamin E can be used in the present invention so long as it does not ruin the appearance and function of the smokeable or smokeless tobacco product.

  • Patent number: 5199795
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method of packaging hazardous liquids for shipment or containment, and to the structure and composition of the packaging which can be used to practice the method. The method comprises packaging a hazardous liquid for shipment or containment wherein the hazardous liquid, present in at least one sealed container or in a leaking container, respectively, is placed in a package which can be sealed so that the package completely surrounds and isolates the container, wherein the improvement comprises:constructing the packaging material so that it comprises at least two layers, including an interior layer and an exterior layer, wherein the interior layer of the packaging material adjacent to the sealed or leaking container can be penetrated by liquid which escapes from the container, and wherein the exterior layer of the packaging material, the external portion of which is in contact with the external environment, is impermeable by the liquid and by hazardous vapor therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5080225
Abstract: A diagnostic sample packaging tray and pouch for holding a variety of commonly used sample containers, such as tube, needle and slide combinations which are required for various testing procedures in medical practice. The tray is preferably constructed of a strong transparent thermoplastic material and is provided with at least one specially configured surface designed to securely hold the same containers. The tray can be a single-piece tray or a two-piece tray. The preferred embodiment is a single-piece tray which can be folded into a closed position so that a first portion of the tray folds over a second portion of the tray, whereby the two portions of the tray are locked into position, requiring a reasonable exertion of force to reopen the tray. The tray containing the used sample containers is placed within the pouch. The pouch includes a foldable flap having means for sealing closure of its open end.
